Brendan Teys and Geordan Papacostas fired for the Brisbane Capitals as did Cal Dalton for Logan Thunder and Sam McDaniel for the Ipswich Force in the NBL1 North.

Sunshine Coast Phoenix had two statement NBL1 North wins led by Luke Anderson while Cairns Marlins prevailed over Gold Coast Rollers with Kody Stattmann and James Whitt combining for 88 points while Quintin Dove had 72 over two Northside Wizards outings.

Logan Thunder (95) defeated North Gold Coast Seahawks (78)

Cal Dalton scored 28 points on 11 shots and 15 free-throw attempts to lead Logan Thunder to the 95-78 home victory against the North Gold Coast Seahawks.

Logan were back home at Bendigo Bank Cornubia Park Sports Centre trying to bounce back from their first loss of the season against the Gold Coast Rollers as they hosted a Seahawks team with just one win so far in 2026.

It was a blistering start from Logan with 33 points to 19 in the first quarter and then they led by as much as 21 in the second frame on the way to the 55-38 half-time edge.

Things remained around that mark for a lot of the second half too with Logan going on to score the 17-point victory to improve to a 5-1 record

Cal Dalton delivered 28 points, seven rebounds, two steals and two blocks for the Thunder with 8/11 field goal shooting to go with 12/15 at the foul line.

Zac Triplett added 17 points, five rebounds and five assists, Tyrone Fui 16 points and five boards, Hunter Marks 14 points, five rebounds, three assists and two blocks, and Shaun Bruce 17 assists to go with seven rebounds and four boards.

North Gold Coast are now 1-6 following the loss with Nahn Agosta top scoring with 26 points with 4/8 three-point shooting.

Zac Dunmore also had 13 points on 3/5 shooting from downtown while Isaiah Oste-Pinder contributed 10 points and five rebounds, Conor O'Sullivan 10 points, seven assists and six boards, and Cole Ross seven points, 10 rebounds and four steals.

Townsville Heat (83) lost to Gold Coast Rollers (110)

The Gold Coast Rollers have set up nicely their battle for top spot against the Cairns Marlins with another six players scoring in double-figures in their 110-83 win against the Townsville Heat.

Gold Coast arrived at Carmichael Ford Stadium having won their past six games with an average winning margin of 19 points while putting up 113.8 points per game.

That meant Townsville were in for quite a test even on their home floor and after a tight battle in the first quarter, Gold Coast flexed their muscles with 38 points in the second quarter on 13/17 shooting.

They had another 30 points with 10/21 shooting in the third term on the way to building a 29-point lead to score the seventh straight win to improve to 7-0 ahead of facing the unbeaten Cairns on Saturday.

The firepower Gold Coast possess was once again on display with six players scoring in double figures and they were all between 11 and 24 points in the 27-point victory.

Preston Le Gassick was the top scorer with those 24 points to go with seven rebounds, five assists and two steals as he gears up for a first NBL season at the New Zealand Breakers.

Jensen Bradtke also delivered another 18 points, 12 rebounds and two blocked shots with James Whitt providing 17 points, seven assists, four boards, three steals and two blocks, and Ashley McGrath 15 points with 4/7 three-point shooting.

Brodie McGregor also had 12 points, eight rebounds, two assists and two blocks, and Boston Mazlin 11 points and five assists.

Richard Peachey finished with 19 points and four rebounds in the loss for Townsville with Ethan Betts adding 19 points, five boards and three assists, and Steven Richardson Jr 12 points and six rebounds.

Nathan Pollard Jr also had 10 points, 11 rebounds, three assists and two steals, and Declan Condon 10 points and nine boards.

Mackay Meteors (114) defeated Northside Wizards (92)

Three Mackay Meteors players scored over 20 points and another two were in double figures in a superb all-round performance to beat the Northside Wizards 114-92.

The Meteors were back home at Mackay Basketball Stadium trying to bounce back from a loss to the Cairns Marlins while Northside arrived fresh off beating the defending champion Southern Districts Spartans.

It was a tight start to the contest with both teams combining for 53 points in the first quarter with Mackay narrowly leading 27-26, but the home team then took over in the second frame.

The Meteors put up 36 points to 19 in the quarter and that saw them leading 63-45 by half-time and then that lead got out to 22 by the fourth term on the way to the eventual 22-point victory.

Mackay improves to 5-4 with the win with Jalen Johnson delivering 25 points, nine rebounds and two steals on 10/13 shooting with Cameron Goldfinch adding 21 points, three boards and three assists.

Kobey Sager also had 21 points, 10 rebounds and four assists, Jerron Jamerson 16 points, seven assists and five boards, and Khobie De Haan 13 points and three rebounds.

The Wizards are now 2-5 with the defeat with Tyler Williams having another 27 points, five assists, three rebounds and two steals with 4/10 three-point shooting.

Quintin Dove top scored with 33 points with 7/12 shooting from downtown as well with Jed Richardson contributing 13 points and nine boards, and Durrell McDonald had 10 assists.

SATURDAY

Brisbane Capitals (104) defeated South West Metro Pirates (88)

Brendan Teys and Geordan Papacostas combined for 45 points and six three-pointers as the Brisbane Capitals made it back-to-back wins beating the South West Metro Pirates 104-88.

The Caps were back home at Auchenflower Stadium coming off a win against the Northside Wizards while the Pirates arrived still yet to get on the board in 2026.

Brisbane then started impressively to lead 28 points to 17 in the opening quarter but then the Pirates fired back with 27 to 14 in the second term to head into half-time leading 44-42.

South West Metro were then doing everything for that first win of the season to still be leading for much of the third term, but Brisbane eventually got back on top with 28 points to 16.

The Capitals then had 34 points to 28 in the last term to secure the 16-point home victory and improve to 6-3 as a result.

Brendan Teys knocked down 3/9 from downtown for 23 points, six assists and three rebounds for Brisbane with Geordan Papacostas hitting 3/6 for 22 points, 13 boards, seven assists and two blocked shots.

Kai Woodfall also had 18 points and five assists with 4/14 long-range shooting with Kai Bloom contributing 12 points, eight rebounds, six assists and three steals, and Ethan Taafe seven points, six boards, two assists and two steals.

The Pirates are now 0-7 with another loss with Dominique Keyes finishing with 12 points, 12 rebounds and three assists with Anei Muorter adding 12 points on 4/5 three-point shooting, and Oliver Amajoyi 11 points, two rebounds and two assists.

Louis Jones added 11 points and five rebounds, Darryl McDowell-White 10 points, six assists and four boards as playing-coach, and Brandon Edwards 10 points and six rebounds.

Cairns Marlins (103) defeated Gold Coast Rollers (98)

Top spot went on the line and it was a spectacular night with Kody Stattmann scoring 45 points, James Whitt 43 and the Cairns Marlins kept up their undefeated record beating the Gold Coast Rollers 103-98.

The Marlins were back home at Trinity Ford Stadium having won their opening six matches of 2026 with Gold Coast arriving on a seven-game winning streak including the previous night in Townsville by 27 points.

Whitt then came out and put up 20 points in the first quarter to set the tone for Gold Coast and they would lead for most of the first three quarters before both teams had 8-0 scoring runs early in the fourth term for the lead to exchange hands.

In the end, Cairns had the answers down the stretch to secure the five-point victory to improve to a perfect 7-0 record with Gold Coast slipping back to 7-2 having split their road double in the Far North.

Kody Stattmann is in the form of his life so far this season and that continued with 45 points, 14 rebounds, three assists and two steals on 14/28 field goal shooting while going 6/11 behind the arc and 11/15 at the foul line.

Amarco Doyle added 22 points and three rebounds, Luca Yates 16 points and 15 boards, and Kobe McDowell-White eight points, nine assists and five rebounds.

James Whitt had the hot start and ended the night with 43 points for Gold Coast with six rebounds, four assists and four steals on 20/28 field goal shooting.

Boston Mazlin added 17 points and five assists, Brodie McGregor 15 points and eight boards, Jensen Bradtke 12 points and 12 rebounds, and Preston Le Gassick four points, four assists, three boards and two steals.

Sunshine Coast Phoenix (116) defeated Logan Thunder (87)

Darnell and Jamaal Robateau along with Erik Kafritsas combined for 76 points as the Sunshine Coast Phoenix kept their winning form going beating Logan Thunder 116-87.

The Phoenix were back home at Maroochydore Stadium having won their last couple hosting a Logan team fresh off a big win at home on Friday night against the North Gold Coast Seahawks.

Sunshine Coast started on fire with 33 points to 18 in the first quarter and then that lead got out to 22 in the second frame before the home team went into half-time leading 59-38.

Even with Logan putting up 30 points in the third term, Sunshine Coast pulled away again with 31 to 19 in the final period on the way to the 29-point home victory.

The Phoenix have now won three straight to improve to a 5-2 record with Jamaal Robateau finishing with 28 points, six rebounds and two assists with 3/6 three-point shooting and 11/11 at the free-throw line.

Darnell Robateau added 26 points, nine rebounds and nine assists, Erik Kafritsas 22 points with 5/9 three-point shooting, and Earnest Ross 17 points, five rebounds, four steals and two assists.

Logan are now 5-2 having split their two games this weekend with Shaun Bruce producing 26 points, eight rebounds, seven assists and two steals.

Rockhampton Rockets (95) lost to Northside Wizards (112)

Quintin Dove fired for 39 points and lifted the Northside Wizards to the 112-95 road win against the Rockhampton Rockets.

The Wizards started their road double on Friday with the loss to the Mackay Meteors where Dove did also had 33 points with seven three-point makes.

They took on a Rockets team on their home floor at Bravus Arena looking to back up last week's win against the North Gold Coast Seahawks.

Rockhampton then started strongly with an early nine-point lead and being on top 31-27 by quarter-time.

The Wizards then fired right back with a massive second frame on the back of 36 points to 22 to head into the half-time interval 63-53.

Northside continued to build on that advantage through the second half with the lead growing to 14 points in the third quarter, and 19 in the fourth on the way to the eventual 17-point victory.

The win improves the Wizards to 3-5 having split their road double with Tyler Williams putting up 29 points and five assists with 6/10 three-point shooting.

But it was Quintin Dove who played match winner with 39 points, three rebounds, three assists and two steals with 13/26 shooting from the floor along with 4/11 from downtown and 9/11 at the foul line.

Durrell McDonald added 16 points and 11 assists while making all three of his long-range attempts with Jed Richardson contributing 13 points, 11 rebounds and five blocks, and Tyson Warren seven points and six boards.

Rockhampton are now 2-5 with the loss with Junior Madut putting up 27 points eight five assists, three rebounds and three steals on 5/12 three-point shooting.

Jalen Graham added 26 points, seven rebounds and five assists, Isaac Ayoubi 19 points, six boards and six assists, and Treauhn Williams 19 points, 17 rebounds and two assists.

SUNDAY

South West Metro Pirates (77) lost to Ipswich Force (86)

Sam McDaniel put in another match winning performance to lead the Ipswich Force to the 86-77 road win over the South West Metro Pirates.

Ipswich arrived at Hibiscus Sports Stadium making their only appearance of the weekend while the Pirates were backing up from a loss to the Brisbane Capitals the previous night and still hunting a first win for 2026.

In search of that first win, South West Metro were leading 26-23 by the end of the first quarter before Ipswich had 31 points to 28 in the second term and scores were all tied 54-54 by half-time.

The Pirates then managed a total of 23 points only in the entire second half with the Force putting up 32 on the way to the nine-point victory.

Ipswich improves to 3-4 with the win with McDaniel delivering 27 points, nine rebounds, four assists and four steals even while going just 1/10 from behind the three-point arc and having five turnovers.

Lachlan Anderson added 18 points, 10 rebounds and four assists, Alec Godinet 11 points and two boards, Will Mahoney 11 points, three steals and two rebounds, and Merrick Small eight points and seven boards.

South West Metro are now 0-8 after two more defeats this weekend with Louis Jones finishing with 14 points and two assists, Harrison Huber 12 points, four rebounds and three assists, Jai Blackman nine points and two assists, and Brandon Edwards eight points, four boards and four assists.

Southern Districts Spartans (84) lost to Sunshine Coast Phoenix (106)

On the back of beating Logan Thunder the night before, Sunshine Coast Phoenix backed it up with a standout performance led by 25 points from Luke Anderson to beat the defending champion Southern Districts Spartans 106-84.

The Spartans were back home at Rowland Cowan Stadium trying to hit back from last Saturday night's loss to the Northside Wizards while the Phoenix arrived having won three straight including against Logan the night before by 29 points on their home floor.

Sunshine Coast then started on fire against the Spartans to already be leading by 17 at quarter-time before going on another 16-0 run in the third quarter to build a 33-point lead on the way to the eventual 22-point victory.

That's four straight wins now for the Phoenix as they improve to a 6-2 record with Luke Anderson scoring 25 points to go with four rebounds and shooting 7/10 from the field, 2/3 from downtown and 9/10 at the free-throw line.

Earnest Ross is settling back in nicely too and produced 17 points, six rebounds, three assists and three steals while Erik Kafritsas contributed 13 points and six boards, and Nelson Kahler 12 points, nine rebounds, two assists and two blocks.

Darnell Robateau produced nine points, nine assists, six rebounds and two steals as well with Jamaal Robateau ending up with nine points, five assists, three boards and three steals, and DeShawn Ross-Paiwan nine points, four rebounds, three assists and two steals.

The championship defence of Southern Districts continues to struggle with them now 4-5 having lost the past two with Tamuri Wigness struggling on 6/18 shooting with four turnovers on his way to 17 points, four rebounds and three assists.

Ben Hastings also had 14 points, four rebounds and three assists, Dhieu Magier 13 points, three boards and two steals, and Troy Baxter Jr 12 points, three rebounds and three assists.
