There were NBL1 West wins for the Cockburn Cougars, Lakeside Lightning, Warwick Senators, Goldfields Giants, Rockingham Flames and Eastern Suns.

Rockingham Flames big three of Sara Puckett, Teige Morrell and Amy Atwell led them to two big NBL1 West wins while Cockburn Cougars survived a score to East Perth Eagles before their 30-game streak ended at the hands of Jayda Clark and Warwick Senators.

Cockburn Cougars (91) defeated East Perth Eagles (81)

Stacey Barr and Sarah Mortensen weren’t short on motivation to help the East Perth Eagles end the Cockburn Cougars winning run, but their depth shone through as the defending champions came from behind to prevail 91-81.

The Cougars were back home at Wally Hagan Stadium on Friday night having won their past 29 matches which included all 23 last year including the Grand Final and then the first six of 2026.

Speaking of that Grand Final, two East Perth players of 2026 played at RAC Arena that night with Mortensen winning a second championship with the Cougars while Barr did all she could to help the Warwick Senators over the line with 35 points and 13 rebounds.

Now both arrived on Friday night trying to stop the Cougars reaching a 30th straight win and for a lot of the game, they were on track to do that including leading by double figures for a lot of the first half and by as much as 14.

East Perth were still leading by two at three quarter-time, but Cockburn overran them in the finish outscoring a tired looking Eagles in the last 10 minutes 25 points to 13 on the way to the 10-point victory to make it 30 victories in-a-row.

The Cougars did end up having six players score in double figures while they finished up with eight extra shot attempts and went 14/40 from three-point territory opposed to 8/25 from East Perth while pulling down 18 offensive rebounds to 11.

It was a show of depth in the win in the end from the Cougars as they began life without Alex Ciabattoni who is now back in Adelaide for the rest of the season where she's playing with the also undefeated West Adelaide Bearcats.

Championship captain Jewel Williams finished with 16 points, six rebounds, three assists and two steals while knocking down 4/9 from three-point territory.

Darcee Garbin is working back nicely playing for the first time as a mother and fresh off signing to return to the WNBL with the Tasmania Jewels. She had 15 points, eight rebounds and two assists.

Cierra Walker added 14 points and three assists, Daniel Raber 13 points, seven assists and six rebounds, Jaya Scafidi 13 points and five boards, and Jessie Edwards 12 points and seven rebounds.

Sarah Mortensen was back to her former home court for the first time in Eagles colours to take on the team she'd helped win two championships and she made a hot start with nine points in the first quarter and 15 to half-time.

She finished with 19 for the night with eight rebounds, three assists and two blocks on 9/16 field goal shooting.

Sydney Wright had a fascinating battle with Cougars captain Jewel Williams for a lot of the night and ended up with 18 points and two assists with Brooke Malone adding 16 points, seven rebounds and two assists, and Stacey Barr 15 points and 10 assists.

Perth Redbacks (60) lost to Lakeside Lightning (79)

Esme Morales again took her talents on the road and knocked down eight three-pointers to lead the Lakeside Lightning to the 79-60 win over the Perth Redbacks.

The Lightning arrived at Belmont Oasis attempting to build on their last up win over the Perry Lakes Hawks and they managed to come back from five points down to lead 20-17 by quarter-time.

Lakeside then held the Redbacks to just eight points in the second frame to be leading34-25 by half-time and then going on with the job from there.

The Lightning's lead got out to 19 points in the third quarter and 24 in the fourth before they secured the 19-point victory to improve their record to 5-4.

Morales was dazzling for the Lightning by draining 8/13 from beyond the three-point arc for 28 points, four rebounds, four assists and four steals.

Delanie Crawford also had 14 points, 11 rebounds and four assists, Kiriana Hawaikirangi 13 points, seven boards and five assists, and Sam Lubcke nine points, nine rebounds and three steals.

The Redbacks are now 2-6 following the loss at home with Sam Ashby producing another 19 points, seven rebounds, six steals and three assists with 6/21 shooting from the floor.

Shenae Hartree added 14 points, five rebounds, three assists and two steals, Mya Dimanlig seven points and four boards, and Laneisha Paddon six points and three rebounds.

Perry Lakes Hawks (76) lost to Warwick Senators (80)

The Warwick Senators were made to work hard but overcame the Perry Lakes Hawks 80-76 to get ready for their Grand Final rematch the next night with the Cockburn Cougars.

The Senators arrived at Bendat Basketball Centre hitting back last week to beat the Willetton Tigers after losses to East Perth and Rockingham with Perry Lakes trying to maintain touch for a playoff spot.

It was a solid start from Warwick with the 20-16 lead by quarter-time before the Senators put up 28 points to 20 in the second term on the way to the 48-36 lead by half-time.

Perry Lakes fired back after slipping 15 points down early in the third quarter going on a 7-0 run but the Senators did enough in the end to secure the four-point win.

The win improves the Senators to a 6-3 record with Kyana Weir putting up 19 points and two assists with 6/8 three-point shooting.

Kiara Waite added 13 points and six rebounds, Mackenzie Clinch Hoycard 13 points, seven assists and five boards, Jayda Clark 13 points, seven rebounds, four assists and two steals, and Chloe Forster seven points, three assists and two boards.

Perry Lakes are now 2-6 with the loss with Emilie Beggs top scoring with 19 points to go with seven assists on 6/9 field goal shooting and 5/7 at the free-throw line.

Eva Smith also had 16 points and two steals with 4/6 shooting from behind the three-point arc while Bridgette Rettstatt contributed 13 points, six boards and three steals, Jess Jakens 11 points, four rebounds, four steals and three assists, and Maddy Zugna nine points and three boards.

SATURDAY

Warwick Senators (97) defeated Cockburn Cougars (76)

The Cockburn Cougars escaped a close call the night before but their 30-game winning streak is over with the Warwick Senators back court of Jayda Clark and Chloe Forster instrumental in their team's 97-76 win.

Cockburn had not lost a game in the NBL1 West since the 2024 Grand Final against the Rockingham Flames with the Cougars going through all of 2025 undefeated before beating the Senators in the Grand Final at RAC Arena.

They then won their first seven matches of 2026 but on Friday night they were trailing most of the night against the East Perth Eagles before a big final quarter saw them extend their winning run to 30.

However, they are adjusting to life without Alex Ciabattoni now in their back court and that was the area where Warwick took control with Clark and Forster ending up combining for 56 points, 12 rebounds, nine assists and 8/13 three-point shooting.

The Cougars did make a run late in the third quarter, but the Senators continued to have all the answers on the way to the eventual 21-point victory to not only end Cockburn's winning run, but also beat the team they lost to in last year's Grand Final.

The Senators' WNBL back court pairing of Jayda Clark and Chloe Forster were hugely instrumental in their team's stunning win.

Clark finished with 33 points, seven rebounds, four assists and two steals on 11/14 shooting from the floor, 4/6 from downtown and 7/8 at the free-throw line.

Then despite coming off the bench, Forster still playing over 30 minutes for 23 points, five rebounds and five assists with 4/9 three-point shooting.

Kiara Waite also provided 13 points, three rebounds, three steals and three blocks with 3/4 shooting from beyond the arc while Izzy Miotti battled hard down low for eight points, four rebounds and four assists, and new import Greta Kampschroeder had five points in almost 20 minutes.

Despite Cockburn losing for the first time since the 2024 Grand Final, Jessie Edwards had a huge night against the undersized Senators without Nat Burton by delivering 28 points, nine rebounds and two blocks with 18 of those points in the first half.

Jewel Williams added 12 points, five rebounds and four assists, Daniel Raber 11 points, six assists, three boards and three steals, and Darcee Garbin nine points and eight rebounds.

Joondalup Wolves (65) lost to Goldfields Giants (87)

The Goldfields Giants started their road double in emphatic style beating the Joondalup Wolves 87-65 with the front court of Delaynie Moore and Sierra Moore combining for 45 points and 23 rebounds.

The Giants arrived at Arena Joondalup having won three straight with the Wolves trying to avoid a third straight defeat and it was the visitors with the fast start with 27 points to 15 in the first quarter.

Goldfields had another 22 points to 11 in the second term on the way to the 49-26 advantage by half-time.

That lead for the Giants got out to as much as 29 points in the second half as well before they secured the 22-point win to make it four in-a-row ahead of Sunday's clash with the Rockingham Flames.

Sierra Moore delivered another 23 points, 13 rebounds, five steals and three assists in the win for the Giants with Delaynie Byrne adding 22 points and 10 boards.

Hazelle Yam added 13 points, seven assists and two blocked shots, Lexi Pana nine points, five assists, four stelas and two rebounds, and Rachel Pettit eight points and five assists.

The Wolfpack have now lost three in-a-row to be 2-7 on the season with Yemiyah Morris top scoring with 16 points and 13 rebounds including nine of those boards coming at the offensive end.

Rosie Deegan was into the line-up and produced 14 points with Asianae Johnson adding 10 points, six assists and four rebounds, and Kim Pierre-Louis six points and six boards.

Willetton Tigers (70) lost to Rockingham Flames (86)

Teige Morrell, Sara Puckett and Amy Atwell all fired for the Rockingham Flames in the 86-70 win over the Willetton Tigers as they made it four straight.

The Flames arrived at Willetton Basketball Stadium with Atwell back in the line-up and having lost just twice so far in 2026 with both defeats courtesy of the Mandurah Magic.

The Tigers were looking to avoid a third straight defeat but it was Rockingham with the best of the start to already be leading 27-17 after one.

Willetton did keep in touch with 24 points to 21 in the second frame but the Flames then took over in the second half to lead by 15 in the third quarter and 21 in the fourth on the way to the 16-point triumph.

It's a fourth straight win for Rockingham who improve to 7-2 with Atwell returning and providing 20 points, three rebounds, three assists and three steals.

Morrell also produced 25 points, 10 rebounds and three assists, and Puckett 21 points, five assists, four boards and four steals.

Willetton are now 3-6 with three consecutive defeats with Ruby Porter delivering 19 points and six assists with Emma Calvert adding 17 points and eight rebounds, Remy Hearn eight points and five assists, and Nija Collier eight points, 10 rebounds and two steals.

Kalamunda Eastern Suns (80) defeated Mandurah Magic (71)

Trista Hull starred in her second appearance with the Kalamunda Eastern Suns leading them to the 80-71 home win against the Mandurah Magic.

The Eastern Suns remained at home at Ray Owen Sports Centre trying to snap a three-game losing run while the Magic arrived trying to back up their win over the South West Slammers but they remained without Mia Jacobs, Erin Antosh and Emma Klasztorny.

Kalamunda did start the better to be up seven early but Mandurah hit back with an 8-0 run to be leading 20-17 by quarter-time.

The Magic were still clinging to the 34-33 lead at half-time before the Eastern Suns opened up a one-point lead by three quarter-time, and then with a 9-0 run in the last quarter went on to score the nine-point home victory.

The Suns improve to 3-6 with the win with Hull starring with 20 points, 16 rebounds and two assists.

Gaby Bronson added 19 points, seven rebounds and three assists, Alyssa Bowen 13 points and seven boards, Kayla Kiriau 10 points and three assists, and Yume Knoll seven points, seven assists, five rebounds and two steals.

The Magic are now 4-4 following the defeat with Mikayla Pivec providing another 20 points, nine rebounds, six assists and four steals.

Claire Jacobs added 16 points, 11 rebounds, six assists and two steals with Georgia Adams contributing nine points, five boards and two assists, Hannah Chatfield eight points and two rebounds, and Jade Gowland eight points and five boards.

SUNDAY

Rockingham Flames (108) defeated Goldfields Giants (74)

The Rockingham Flames continued their scorching form by knocking down 19 three-pointers with six players hitting multiple triples in the 108-74 home win over the Goldfields Giants.

Rockingham put up 28 points in the first quarter with five triples before hitting another five for 25 points in the second, seven for 32 points in the third and then another two in the last for 23 on the way to the 34-point victory.

It was a scintillating display from the Flames with them shooting 57 per cent from the field while 35 of their 74 shot attempts were from three-point territory where they knocked down 19 at 54 per cent.

That including Amy Atwell going 5/9, Stef Berberabe 3/5, Sara Puckett 3/5, Tiana Wilson-Palmer 3/5 in her 100th NBL1 West game, Shani Amos 2/2 and Lesila Finau 2/3.

Puckett finished the game with 25 points and four rebounds on 10/13 shooting from the field with Atwell delivering 20 points, six assists and four rebounds in her return this weekend.

Teige Morrell added 16 points, 11 rebounds and four assists, Berberabe 13 points and 10 assists, Wilson-Palmer nine points, six rebounds, three assists and two steals, Amos eight points and five assists, and Finau eight points, nine rebounds and three assists

The Giants couldn’t quite go with the Flames in their second road game of the weekend with Sierra Moore finishing with another 20 points, five rebounds and three steals.

Delaynie Byrne had another double double with 13 points, 11 rebounds, four assists and two steals while Hazelle Yam contributed 14 points and two boards, Chloe Zorzi 10 points and three rebounds, and Lexi Pana seven points, eight assists and three steals.
