THURSDAY

The East Perth kept themselves in second position with a fifth straight win beating the Lakeside Lightning 91-76 with Sarah Mortensen dominant with 34 points, 14 rebounds and seven assists.
The Eagles were back home at Morley Sport and Recreation Centre for the Thursday night match up having won four straight while the Lightning had also won their last couple to be sitting in seventh place.
Lakeside did open up an early six-point lead but East Perth responded to be leading 20-19 by quarter-time before it was the Lightning with the slender 44-43 advantage by the main break.
Coming out of half-time and East Perth responded with 30 points to 20 in the third frame, and 18 to 12 in the fourth to secure the 15-point win to improve to 14-4 and stay in second spot having gone 8-1 at home so far in 2026.

Perry Lakes Hawks (78) lost to Rockingham Flames (87)
Rockingham Flames pair Teige Morrell and Sara Puckett combined for 55 points and 18 rebounds but they had to come from behind to beat a valiant Perry Lakes Hawks 87-78 to celebrate the 200-game milestone of Paris Duffield.
There was plenty at stake on Thursday night for both teams at Bendat Basketball Centre with the Flames looking to stay in touch of a top two position and the out to try and break into the top eight.
In the end Perry Lakes not having Bridgette Rettstatt and then losing Mila Wawskowicz early took its toll and the Flames built a 15-point lead accordingly before the Hawks put up 34 points in the third quarter to be up four at three quarter-time.
Rockingham responded once more with 27 points to 14 to end up winning by nine to stay in touch of the top two at 13-4 while Perry Lakes do remain in playoff contention with three games to go at 6-11.
It's a big result in the context of the season for both teams but Perry Lakes still had a lot to be proud of given they were already without Bridgette Rettstatt which denied them any sort of match up for Teige Morrell, and then lost Mila Wawszkowicz after 1:47 to illness.
But they still gave themselves a shot and still have a shot at the playoffs and will be a danger if they sneak in but the Flames showed their quality in the end with Morrell showing why she's a two-time MVP with 30 points, nine rebounds and three assists on 12/17 shooting.
Sara Puckett already had seven points and eight rebounds to half-time but then hit all four of her three-pointers in the second half on the way to 25 points and nine boards.

Perry Lakes remain just one win outside of eighth spot and only two behind the Goldfields Giants who they now play on Saturday with Makenna Marisa delivering another 34 points, eight rebounds and four assists on 5/9 three-point shooting.
Eva Smith stepped up for 11 points, six rebounds and two blocks for the Hawks, Nicola Moore 11 points and three boards, and Jess Jakens six points and four rebounds in game No. 311.

The front court of Jessie Edwards and Daniel Raber dominated combining for 47 points, 25 rebounds and 16 assists to keep the Cockburn Cougars clear in top spot beating the South West Slammers 98-70.
It was top against bottom at Eaton Recreation Centre on Friday night with the Cougars having won six straight and the Slammers having lost their past eight.
South West were up against it but with Cockburn also without Jewel Williams and Darcee Garbin, they took the fight to the reigning champions and were leading 19-14 by the end of the first quarter.

Claire Jacobs, Mikayla Pivec and Mia Jacobs all dominated as the Mandurah Magic flexed their muscles to stay in touch of a top four finish with the 116-68 hammering of the Willetton Tigers.
The Magic were back home at Mandurah Aquatic and Recreation Centre two games back from the fourth placed Warwick Senators after last week's loss to the Cockburn Cougars.
So to stay a chance for the top four they needed to win as they hosted a Tigers team who arrived having lost their past 10.
It didn’t take long for Mandurah to take control with 30 points to 18 in the first quarter and another 26 to 11 in the second to go into half-time leading 56-29.
There was no let up coming out of the locker room from the Magic either with another 38 points to 15 in the third quarter on the way to the eventual 48-point win to improve to 11-6 and close in on fourth place.
Claire Jacobs delivered 31 points, four rebounds, four assists and two blocks for Mandurah with 10/14 shooting from the field and 4/7 from the outside with sister Mia adding 23 points, nine boards, five steals and four assists fresh off signing in the WNBL for the Tasmania Jewels.

The teams came into the clash at Ray Owen Sports Centre on the outside of the top eight but still right in touch heightening the stakes with the Redbacks starting well away from home after a loss in Albany in dramatic fashion to the Perry Lakes Hawks last Saturday.
The Suns were coming off a big home win on Sunday to the Goldfields Giants but it was the Redbacks up 27-18 by quarter-time with 13 points to Sam Ashby before the home team took over.
Kalamunda outscored Perth 43-23 over the second and third quarters with 17/42 shooting to 8/28 including pulling down 14 offensive rebounds and forcing the Redbacks into 11 turnovers.
But the Redbacks held the Suns to seven points in the fourth quarter and gave themselves a chance but the home team held on to win by four to improve to 6-12 on the season with Perth now 6-10.

The East Perth Eagles had a chance to go a long way to securing a top two finish but the Perth Redbacks had their own season to keep alive and pulled out the thrilling 96-93 home victory.
The Eagles were fresh off beating the Lakeside Lightning at home on Thursday night to open the round to stay in second place with the five straight victories while the Redbacks had won four straight before last week's one-point loss in Albany to the Perry Lakes Hawks.
The Redbacks had the chance to move back into the top eight with a win and started on fire to be leading by 11 points in the first quarter and still on top 24-18 at quarter-time.
It was another 28 points to 22 in the second term to be leading 52-40 at the half and then the lead was 13 again in the third term, but the Eagles aren’t in second spot for nothing and mounted a fight back from there.
East Perth got all the way back level after two free throws from Sarah Mortensen with three minutes to play before ultimately it was a massive three-pointer with time running out from Olivia Berry that broke the deadlock and won the game for the Redbacks.

The Tigers were back home at Willetton Basketball Stadium having lost their past 11 games including the previous night by 48 points to the Mandurah Magic while Warwick arrived sitting solid in fourth position.
All signs were pointing to another win for the Senators but the Tigers were a different looking outfit right from the outset with three-time championship winner Gandini playing her 250th game having returned to her original club in 2026 after stints with the Rockingham Flames and Senators.
It was a tremendous start at home from Willetton to already be leading 25-13 by quarter-time before another 23 to 11 in the second quarter in what was a stunning start given the recent form of both teams for the Tigers to lead 48-24 by half-time.
Things went from bad to worse in the third quarter for Warwick who already were without starting point guard Jayda Clark and once Chloe Forster was ejected when picking up a tech foul having earlier had an unsportsmanlike against her.

It was a crucial game for both teams with Rockingham still fighting for a top two position while Joondalup had moved into the top eight having won their last couple of games.
They turned up at Arena Joondalup with both looking to keep their recent momentum going and the Flames dominated the first half to be leading by 20 points at half-time having held the Wolves to 8/31 shooting and into 11 turnovers.
But then the Wolves flipped the switch to hold Rockingham to 27 points on 10/41 shooting but they could never quite hit the front with the Flames doing enough to seal the eventual seven-point win.
The result makes it three straight wins for Rockingham to improve them to a 14-4 record to replace the East Perth Eagles in second place again with Joondalup now 7-11 with the defeat.

The Giants were back home at Evolution Mining Stadium having lost their past four matches since the ankle injury to Moore as they hosted a Hawks team trying to stay in the finals mix and bounce back from a loss to the Rockingham Flames on Thursday.
Goldfields made an impressive start with 29 points to 22 in the first quarter and then that lead blew out to 19 in the second term before the Giants were still on top 52-37 by half-time.
Even with Perry Lakes winning the second half 47 points to 39, Goldfields retained control to end up scoring the seven-point win that's significant in the seasons for both teams in both ways.
