Spectres’ momentum builds with third straight win

The Nunawading Spectres remain unbeaten to start the NBL1 South 2026 season, closing strongly to secure an 86–82 win over the Ringwood Hawks.
In a game that shifted throughout, Nunawading found their response late, finishing on a decisive run to take control in the closing minutes.
Kylee Blacksten provided a key spark in the third quarter, finishing with 21 points and 5 rebounds on 8/12 shooting as the Spectres regained momentum heading into the final term.
With Ringwood applying pressure down the stretch, Nunawading’s composure proved decisive.
“Our team really, really pulled together there at the end,” Blacksten said.
“I’m so proud of them, they played outstanding.”
That ability to respond has been a feature of the Spectres’ start, with contributions spread across the lineup in another balanced performance.
Rachel Antoniadou added 15 points and 5 assists, Eliza Hollingsworth recorded a 14-point, 14-rebound double-double, while Riley Lupfer contributed 14 points and 4 assists.
The Spectres controlled the glass and created second-chance opportunities throughout, allowing them to stay within reach before executing late.
For Blacksten, the early-season success has come alongside a strong transition into the group.
“Our team has just clicked, it’s been so much fun,” she said.
“I have absolutely loved it. The support that I’ve had behind me has just been crazy.”
Through three games, Nunawading have shown an ability to absorb pressure and respond. At 3–0, the results are following, and the momentum is building.
