There were a pair of NBL1 North wins for the Sunshine Coast Phoenix and Gold Coast Rollers, and a win each for the Cairns Marlins, Logan Thunder, Brisbane Capitals and Ipswich Force.

Amarco Doyle had 34 points to help ensure the Cairns Marlins improved to 15-0 heading into the last round of the NBL1 North season while there were two more wins for the Gold Coast Rollers and Sunshine Coast Phoenix while the Brisbane Capitals kept themselves alive.

FRIDAY

Cairns Marlins (93) defeated Logan Thunder (82)

The Cairns Marlins continued their undefeated season with a 15th straight victory with the 93-82 win over the third placed Logan Thunder.

Logan arrived at Trinity Ford Stadium on their own three-game winning streak and still a chance to finish in the top two as they attempted to hand Cairns a first loss of the season.

The Marlins started on fire with 29 points to 15 in the first quarter and then were still leading 49-40 by half-time.

That lead for Cairns got out to as much as 16 points in the second half before they completed the 11-point victory to remain undefeated with the 15-0 record.

Fresh off signing at the Illawarra Hawks for NBL27, Amarco Doyle dominated in the win for the Marlins with 34 points and eight rebounds with 14/17 shooting from the floor, 2/3 from the outside and 4/5 from the foul line.

Kody Stattmann added 23 points, nine rebounds and three steals, Kobe McDowell-White 11 points, eight boards, six assists and two steals, Ky Stattmann nine points, and Kyle Leslie seven points and seven rebounds.

Logan are now 10-4 with the loss to start their road double weekend with Zac Triplett finishing with 27 points, seven rebounds and two assists with 6/12 shooting from the outside.

Shaun Bruce produced another 12 points and 13 assists with Hunter Marks adding 11 points and five rebounds, and Cal Dalton 11 points and nine boards.

South West Metro Pirates (86) lost to Gold Coast Rollers (126)

The Gold Coast Rollers once again unleashed their significant firepower with 67 points in the second half for the 126-86 win over the South West Metro Pirates to stay clear in second.

It was a Friday night match up at Hibiscus Spors Stadium with the Pirates always up against it to try and stick with the high-powered Rollers now without Flynn Cameron following his four-game stint where they won all of them.

Even with Gold Coast scoring 59 points in the first half, South West Metro were staying in touch down 13 at the half but the Rollers just kept on with their scintillating offence through the second half.

Gold Coast had another 26 points to 21 in the third quarter and 41 to 19 in the second to end up outscoring South West Metro 67-40 in the second half with 24/40 shooting from the field and 7/12 from deep for the eventual 40-point triumph.

Boston Mazlin knocked down another 4/6 from three-point territory for the Rollers with 27 points, seven rebounds, three assists and three steals while Preston Le Gassick contributed 25 points, three boards, three assists and two steals with 4/8 long-range shooting.

Jensen Bradtke added 19 points, six rebounds, six assists and two blocks, James Whitt 17 points, eight assists, five boards, three steals and two blocks, and Ashley McGrath 14 points with 4/7 shooting from downtown.

Harrison Hubert finished with 18 points and two assists on 8/12 field goal shooting for South West Metro with Dominique Keyes adding 14 points, seven boards and four assists, and playing-coach Darryl McDowell-White Jr 13 points, four rebounds, three assists and three steals.

Louis Jones also had 11 points, four rebounds and four assists, and Tyrell Mason 11 points, five boards and two assists.

SATURDAY

Gold Coast Rollers (121) defeated North Gold Coast Seahawks (85)

On the back of a 40-point win the night before where they scored 126 points, the Gold Coast Rollers put up another big score for the 121-85 win against the North Gold Coast Seahawks this time on their home floor.

The Rollers beat the South West Metro Pirates on the road on Friday before returning home to Carrara Indoor Sports Stadium to host a Seahawks team occupying bottom place having lost their past three games.

Gold Coast started on fire once more with 32 points to 19 in the first quarter and then another 29 to 27 to lead 61-46 by the half-time interval.

It was another 29 points to 18 in the third period in favour of the Rollers and 31 to 21 in the fourth as they secured another huge win by 37 points to improve to a 13-2 record with six straight wins and to stay in second position.

Preston Le Gassick delivered another 35 points, four rebounds and three assists with 7/10 shooting from the outside with Jensen Bradtke adding 26 points, 10 boards and three assists.

James Whitt also had 16 points, five rebounds, five assists and five steals, Cooper Urquhart nine points and four boards, Jackson McCabe nine points and four rebound, and Boston Mazlin eight points and five assists.

North Gold Coast are now 2-12 with the fourth straight defeat with Jasraj Gill delivering 24 points and six rebounds with 3/6 three-point shooting.

Sean Murphy also had 14 points, eight assists and seven rebounds, Jermaine Fui eight points and three boards, and Charlie Winks seven points and three rebounds.

Rockhampton Rockets (103) lost to Sunshine Coast Phoenix (111)

The Rockhampton Rockets were trying to win their last home game of the season and gave themselves a shot but the Sunshine Coast Phoenix prevailed 111-103 on the back of 25 points and five three-pointers from Erik Kafritsas.

The Rockets were playing a last game at Bravus Arena on the season so were motivated to try and finish on a high while the Phoenix had lost two of their past four and needed to bounce back to remain any chance of improving on their fourth position.

It was a tight battle most of the evening but eventually Sunshine Coast opened up a 16-point lead in the fourth quarter away from home and then from there held on for the eight-point victory.

The win improves the Phoenix to a 10-4 record while the Rockets are now 2-12 with just two road games to go to close out the season next weekend.

Sunshine Coast started their weekend double with the eight-point win with Erik Kafritsas finishing with 25 points, six rebounds, four steals and three assists on 5/9 shooting from the outside.

Earnest Ross was back from playing with Guam against the Boomers and Tall Blacks last week and delivered 17 points, 10 rebounds and four assists with Nelson Kahler adding 14 points and five boards even with just 16:32 because of foul trouble.

Luke Anderson then provided another 23 points and eight rebounds with 3/3 three-point shooting with DeShawn Ross-Paiwan providing 13 points, three boards and three assists, and Darnell Robateau 16 assists along with nine points and eight rebounds.

Rockhampton did get another standout performance from Jalen Graham who finished with 32 points, nine rebounds, five assists, three blocks and two steals with 12/16 field goal shooting.

Jack Tweedy added 20 points and four assists, Junior Madut 20 points, nine rebounds and seven assists, and Treauhn Williams 16 points, 11 boards, four assists and two steals.

Townsville Heat (82) lost to Logan Thunder (95)

Logan Thunder bounced back from their loss the previous night to beat the Townsville Heat 95-82 to maintain their hold on third position by the end of the penultimate round.

Logan lost to Cairns on Friday night to start their weekend double while Townsville were trying to back up last week's win against the Rockhampton Rockets even while being out of playoff contention.

It was a good start on their home floor from the Heat to be leading 22-17 by quarter-time and then still 47-43 by half-time.

Logan managed to work on top by a point by three quarter-time and then dominated the final period with 27 points to 15 on the way to the 13-point victory to improve to an 11-4 record after splitting their road double.

Zac Triplett delivered another 22 points and four rebounds with 4/9 shooting from beyond the arc for the Thunder with Hunter Marks contributing 21 points and four boards, Cal Dalton 19 points, 13 rebounds and four assists, and Shaun Bruce 15 points, 11 assists and six boards.

Townsville are now 4-11 following the home loss with Ethan Betts adding 18 points, seven assists and five rebounds with 8/14 field goal shooting.

Chris Kann added 16 points, six rebounds and four assists on 3/6 shooting from the outside, Steven Richardson Jr 13 points and 10 rebounds, Isaac Weldon 11 points and two boards, and Nathaniel Pollard Jr eight points, four rebounds and four assists.

SUNDAY

Mackay Meteors (79) lost to Sunshine Coast Phoenix (86)

The Sunshine Coast Phoenix made it a double win weekend to stay a chance to still finish in third position with Luke Anderson delivering 27 points in the 86-79 victory against the Mackay Meteors.

The Phoenix started their weekend on the road beating the Rockhampton Rockets on Saturday night while the Meteors were making their lone appearance of the weekend at home at Mackay Basketball Stadium.

Both teams were still a chance to snatch third position should they continue winning and it was a scintillating first quarter from both teams combining for 60 points with Mackay leading 33-27 by quarter-time.

The Meteors were still clinging to the 49-47 advantage by half-time and then the scores were all locked at 64-64 by three quarter-time.

Sunshine Coast were able to go on an 11-0 scoring run in the fourth quarter on the way to building a nine-point lead and then winning by seven to improve to an 11-4 record with the two road wins this weekend.

Luke Anderson put up 27 points and five rebounds with 11/17 field goal shooting for the Phoenix with Liam Switzer adding 18 points, 13 boards, three steals and two assists.

Erif Kafritsas also had 14 points, seven rebounds, four assists and two steals, and Earnest Ross 12 points and two boards with 3/7 shooting from the outside.

Mackay are now 8-6 following the loss with Derek Emelifeonwu finishing with 14 points, three assists, two rebounds and two steals.

Jalen Johnson contributed 13 points and six rebounds, Kobey Sager 12 points, 10 boards and three assists, Maurice Calloo 11 points, four rebounds and three assists, and Jerron Jamerson eight points, eight assists and five rebounds.

Northside Wizards (88) lost to Brisbane Capitals (100)

The Brisbane Capitals kept themselves within a chance still to make the playoffs heading into the final round with the 100-88 road win over the Northside Wizards.

The Wizards might be out of playoff contention ahead of hosting the Caps at Northside Indoor Sports Centre and had a chance to put an end the finals aspirations of Brisbane who reached the Grand Final last year.

The Wizards made a strong start at home with 28 points to 22 in the first quarter but Brisbane turned the tide from there with 26 points to 10 in the second frame to go into half-time leading 48-38.

The lead for Brisbane kept on building from there with it growing to 14 points in the third quarter and 17 in the fourth before they secured the 12-point win to improve to an 8-7 record to keep their season alive.

Kai Bloom top scored for the Capitals with 20 points, four rebounds and two assists with Antony Kopcikas contributing 17 points, four assists, three boards and three steals on shooting 3/3 from downtown.

Jarred Bairstow also had 17 points, nine assists and four rebounds, Kai Woodfall 13 points, seven assists and three boards, Ben Volkman 11 points, 12 rebounds, six assists and three steals, and Brendan Teys 10 points, three steals, two boards and two assists.

The Wizards are now 4-10 following back-to-back losses with Quintin Dove top scoring once more with 20 points, five rebounds and three assists with 4/9 shooting from the outside.

Tyler Williams added 19 points and six assists with 4/5 three-point shooting with Jed Richardson adding 15 points, eight rebounds, three assists, three blocks and two steals, Durrell McDonald 15 points, four boards and four assists, and Mitch Stanton 11 points on 3/3 three-point shooting.

Ipswich Force (91) defeated North Gold Coast Seahawks (67)

Father-son duo Lamar and Zaiden Patterson combined for 40 points as the Ipswich Force kept themselves in a playoff position with the 91-67 home win over the North Gold Coast Seahawks.

The Force were making their lone appearance of the weekend hosting the Seahawks at Ipswich Basketball Stadium with the visitors falling to a fourth straight loss the night before against the Gold Coast Rollers.

It didn’t take long for Ipswich to take control with 22 points to seven in the first quarter and to be leading 40-22 by half-time with Lamar Patterson having 21 of those points.

His teenage son Zaiden also finished with nine with three triples as Ipswich cruised to the 24-point victory to stay in sixth position at 8-7 while North Gold Coast remain in last place at 2-13.

Lamar Patterson produced 31 points, seven rebounds, four assists, two steals and two blocks with 11/21 field shooting along with going 4/11 from the outside and 5/6 at the line.

Lachlan Anderson added 16 points, five rebounds and two steals, Will Mahoney 10 points and five rebounds, and Zaiden Patterson nine with 3/5 three-point shooting making the most of his chance to play with his dad.

North Gold Coast remain anchored to bottom spot with the pair of losses this weekend with Sean Murphy top scoring with 26 points, five rebounds, two assists and two steals with 3/4 shooting from the outside.

Conor O'Sullivan also had 10 points, nine rebounds and two assists, Jasraj Gill nine points, six boards and two steals, and Charlie Winks six points and two steals.
