Footlocker Player of the Week - July 26

Each week thanks to Footlocker, the NBL1 awards a male and female player from each conference the Footlocker Player of the Week Award, including a $200 voucher to basketball players' favourite store to buy sneakers.

Check out each conference’s winners below:

NBL1 South:

Dejan Vasiljevic (Diamond Valley Eagles)

Coming off his NBA Summer League debut Dejan Vasiljevic has delivered one of the plays of the season with a catch and shoot three to win the game against the Keilor Thunder. For Round 13 Vasiljevic averaged 36.5 points, 11.5 rebounds and three assists.

Korinne Campbell (Eltham Wildcats)

Stepping up in the absence of Anneli Maley, who is with the Opals in New York, was Korinne Campell. She had 31 points and 17 rebounds against Kilsyth, keeping Eltham as a competitive team in the South.

NBL1 North:

Tiana Mangakahia (Northside Wizards)

The star of the Northside Wizards Tiana Mangakahia keeps producing numbers! Against Cairns on Saturday she put up an absurd 22 points, 17 assists, 15 rebounds and eight steals

Mangakahia is second in points per game across the entire NBL1 Women’s competition, only behind the GOAT Lauren Jackson. And she joined the Coles Express NBL1 Show to talk about her season below.

Ben Ayre (Carins Marlins)

On Thursday Ben Ayre re-signed with the Cairns Taipans, on Saturday he hit a game-winner for the Carins Marlins. What a week for Ben Ayre!

In a triple-header weekend, Ayre averaged 26.6 points, 5.3 assists and 3.5 rebounds across Round 13.

NBL1 West:

Alex Sharp (Willetton Tigers)

The Tigers remain one of the top teams out West and they have to thank Alex Sharp for that. Sharp had a massive state line of 22 points, 14 rebounds, seven assists and five steals in Willetton’s win over the Giants.

CJ Turnage (Joondalup Wolves)

CJ Turnage led the way for the Wolves on Saturday against Warwick, beating one of the conference rivals Turnage scored 27 points with nine rebounds and three assists to keep the Wolves in the top three of the West standings.

NBL1 Central:

Adam Doyle (Forestville Eagles)

The Eagles are still without Daniel Johson, who is with the 3x3 team for the Commonwealth games, but veteran Adam Doyle is keeping the ship steady. On Saturday against North Adelaide, he had 21 points, 10 assists and six steals in the win.

Madelynn Utti (West Adelaide Bearcats)

The Bearcats are still the team to beat in Central and Madelynn Utti is making it hard to get close against this contender. Against Woodville, Utti crashed the boards harder than most with a 17-point and 21 rebound performance to solidify the Bearcats' position on the ladder.

NBL1 East:

Lizzy Tonks (Canberra Nationals)

In one of the highest-scoring performances we’ve seen this season, Lizzy Tonks took down the Illawarra Hawks in the ‘Gong with a flurry of three-pointers to keep the Nationals just in the East finals race.

Paul Brotherson (Hills Hornets)

Snapping the Bankstown Bruins' hot streak, Paul Brotherson’s Hills Hornets knocked off the Bruins on the road to put the Hornets in the race for the sixth seed in the East. Brotherson scored 25 points with seven rebounds and four assists.

Congratulations to all our Footlocker Players of the Week!
