Reigning NBL1 West MVP Isaac White proved unstoppable even by his Adelaide 36ers NBL teammate Matt Kenyon as he hit nine threes for 40 points as the Rockingham Flames romped to the 119-95 victory against the still winless Mandurah Magic.

A large contingent of the Adelaide 36ers team from the NBL26 Championship Series were all at Mike Barnett Sports Complex on Friday night with six-time MVP Bryce Cotton watching on as Rockingham's White, Michael Harris and Blake Jones took on Kenyon and his new Mandurah team.

Kenyon was a welcome arrival to help Ryan Blanchett, Lachlan Bertram and Jock Perry who had been desperately trying to get the Magic on the board, but it was never going to be easy against the fully powered Flames.

After Kenyon helped Mandurah to a 7-2 start, Rockingham took control and put up 70 points in the first half including shooting 14/25 from three-point range before they resisted Mandurah's 33 points in the third frame to still cruise to the 25-point victory.

Rockingham are now 4-1 and have won three straight having knocked down 23/42 from behind the arc for the night while shooting 54 per cent from the field and 16/17 at the foul line.

Reigning MVP White showed that he has every intention to give himself a chance at back-to-back awards with 40 points, five rebounds and three assists with 9/13 three-point shooting.

His 36ers teammate Harris also had 17 points, seven rebounds, three assists and three steals with Emmett Naar delivering 13 points and nine assists, and Ryan Godfrey 11 points and four assists on another 3/5 three-point shooting effort.

Kenyon made his NBL1 West debut for Mandurah and played 32 minutes for 17 points, seven rebounds and five assists despite shooting 5/16 from the field.

Lachlan Bertram once again top-scored with 25 points, five rebounds and four assists on 4/8 shooting from downtown with Jock Perry adding 20 points, seven boards, five assists and two blocks, and Ryan Blanchett 17 points, six rebounds, two assists and two steals.

West Men

The Magic did get a boost with the arrival of Matt Kenyon to make his NBL1 West debut fresh off being part of the NBL26 Championship Series with the Adelaide 36ers.

The 161-game NBL veteran scored seven quick points for Mandurah too to lead them to a 7-2 start but then he picked up two quick fouls and Rockingham soon took control.

The Flames would be leading 35-22 already by quarter-time on the back of shooting 7/14 from three-point territory opposed to the 2/6 from the Magic.

It was another 35 points to 20 in the second frame in favour of Rockingham and that saw the home team leading 70-42 heading into the locker room having led by as much as 32.

In the second quarter alone, Rockingham shot 7/11 from behind the three-point line to make up 21 of those 35 points and Isaac White added 12 himself in the term to go into half-time with 19 to his name.

To Mandurah's credit, they fired up in the third quarter and scored 33 points with some impressive three-point shooting of their own and that did cut the Rockingham lead to 17 by three quarter-time.

But the Flames got back on top in the final quarter with another 27 points to 20 on the way to the eventual 24-point win to make it four straight themselves and to keep the Magic winless.

The job of the Magic to get their first win of 2026 doesn’t get any easier when they head to Geraldton to take on the reigning champion Buccaneers next Saturday while the Flames will host the undefeated Eastern Suns next Friday night.
