Friday: (Women’s NBL1 North) Northside Wizards vs Gold Coast Rollers

The NBL1 North women’s leading scorer, Catherine Reese, will take on the undefeated Northside Wizards on Friday night.

Averaging over 25 points per game and a season-high of 37, Reese has proven to be a pure scorer up North for the Rollers.

But close behind her is NBL1 North and WNBL champion Courtney Woods. She has led the way for the Wizards so far this season, averaging 24.8 points, 8.2 assists and 7.2 rebounds for the 10-0 Wizards.

It should be a high-scoring affair, streaming live from 6:00pm AEST live via NBL1.com.au or the NBL1 App here

Saturday: (Men’s NBL1 Central) South Adelaide Panthers vs West Adelaide Bearcats

The reigning NBL1 Central champions have not missed a beat, sitting second on the ladder and their Defensive Player of the Year and Finals MVP has gone to a new level offensively – averaging 22 points per game as the team’s leading scorer.

Alex Starling was recently rewarded with an NBL contract by the Adelaide 36ers and will be motivated to show off what he can do against NBL talent this weekend.

While both the Panthers’ Daniel Johnson and the Bearcats’ Mitch McCarron are representing Australia in the 3x3 World Cup, Starling will face off against Anthony Drmic and Lachlan Olbrich on Saturday night.

One name to keep an eye on will be Llyod McVeigh, the younger brother of Jack McVeigh.

The 19-year-old went off last week scoring 29 points with seven rebounds and five assists – averaging 15 points a game in the 2023 season.

Sunday: (Women’s NBL1 East) Basketball Australia Centre of Excellence vs Newcastle Falcons

Coming off a midweek clash against Canberra, the CoE has a quick turnaround to face off against the Newcastle Falcons on Sunday.

They’ll go up against the 10-2 Falcons, featuring WNBL star Nicole Munger. Returning to Newcastle, Munger is averaging 18 points and 13.6 rebounds for the season as one of the premier talents in the entire competition.

Many players on the CoE team are preparing for the FIBA U19 Women’s World Cup later this month, so they will be focused on playing their best before donning the green and gold.
