Logan Thunder produced a dominant third quarter to set themselves on the path to a fifth straight NBL1 North victory handing the Rockhampton Cyclones the 87-82 defeat to start their triple header road trip on Friday night.
Logan were back home at Bendigo Bank Cornubia Park Sports Centre on a four-game winning streak and hosting a Rockhampton team facing three games on the road in South East Queensland this weekend.
It was a tight battle through the first half but then Logan took control with 24 points to 11 in the third quarter on the way to the five-point victory that sees them improve to a 7-1 record with five consecutive wins while Rockhampton are 1-7 having lost their last three.

Logan were able to keep their winning form going with Leah Scott starring once more with 26 points, eight assists, seven rebounds and two steals with 9/14 field goal shooting and going 7/10 at the foul line.
Maddy Allen also had 21 points with 4/10 three-point shooting while Mikhaela Cann contributed 11 points, nine assists, six rebounds and three steals, Amandine Toi nine points, two boards and two steals, and Prasayus Notoa nine points, seven rebounds and three assists.
It wasn’t quite the start to the road triple that Rockhampton were after with Shanique Lucas ending up with 28 points, eight assists and five rebounds on 14/15 free-throw shooting.
Emily Kiser added 17 points, 16 rebounds, four assists and two steals, and Halle Shipton eight points and three boards.
Rockhampton has the daunting task of playing three road games this weekend and they made an encouraging start with an early seven-v lead before Logan responded with an 8-0 run to end up leading 23-21 by the end of the first quarter.
But it remained a tight contest throughout the second term with no more than four points separating the teams and by half-time it was the Thunder clinging to the 43-42 advantage.
Leah Scott was up to 13 points already for Logan while her team was shooting 52 per cent from the field to 37 but they did have 11 turnovers while Rockhampton ended up taking an extra four shot attempts and four more free throws with Shanique Lucas and Gracie Stugart both scoring 13 points.
It was in the third frame when Logan put a gap between the two teams by going on a 10-0 run and opening up a 14-point advantage to be leading 67-53 by three quarter-time.
Maddy Allen was up to 15 points by three quarter-time with Logan taking just with 24 points to 11 in the quarter while also forcing Rockhampton to eight turnovers along with shooting just 5/16 from the field.
Rockhampton did fight valiantly with 29 points to 20 in the last quarter but the Thunder still held on for the five-point victory at home.
Logan now won't be back in action again until next Saturday night on the road to the Southern Districts Spartans while Rockhampton's road trip continues against the South West Metro Pirates on Saturday and then the Ipswich Force on Sunday.
