North Spotlight | Logan hit back and flex muscles

Logan Thunder again showed just how impressive they can be with the 20-point road NBL1 North win over the North Gold Coast Seahawks.

Cal Dalton and Zac Triplett both scored 24 points and Shaun Bruce had another 16 assists as Logan Thunder got back to winning in the NBL1 North with the 105-85 Sunday win over the North Gold Coast Seahawks.

Logan arrived at Runaway Bay Indoor Stadium coming off a last up loss to Flynn Cameron and the South West Metro Pirates while the Seahawks hosted them trying to take a big scalp late in the season.

Logan were on fire with 32 points in the first quarter, though, with Bruce already having eight assists to set the tone for the afternoon and from there the Thunder ended up leading by as much as 20 on the way to the 20-point road victory.

The win improves the Thunder to an 8-3 record on the season while the Seahawks remain in bottom place at 2-10.

Logan bounced back from that loss to the South West Metro Pirates on the back of 51 per cent shooting from the floor to 43 along with 18/41 from downtown to 13/32.

Cal Dalton was a powerful presence inside once more for Logan with 24 points and three rebounds on 10/15 shooting but he also hit all three of his three-point attempts when he stepped out beyond the arc.

Zac Triplett also had 24 points, 11 rebounds, three assists and two steals with 5/15 three-point shooting while Shaun Bruce delivered yet another 16 points and 16 assists along with six rebounds on 4/7 shooting from the land of plenty.

Tyrone Fui added 12 points, two rebounds and two assists, and Hunter Marks 11 points and four boards.

Sean Murphy produced 21 points, 11 rebounds and four assists in the loss for North Gold Coast with Conor O'Sullivan adding 13 points, five boards, three assists and two steals, and Jermaine Fui 11 points with 3/5 three-point shooting.

Isaiah Oste-Pinder also had 11 points and three rebounds, Zahn Agosta 10 points, two boards and two assists, Jasraj Gill eight points, three rebounds, three steals, two assists and two blocks, and Jordan Schwalger six points, seven rebounds and two steals.

Both teams came into the match up playing their only games of the weekend and Logan wasted no time taking over with 32 points to 22 in the first quarter while knocking down 6/13 from three-point territory to 0/4 from the Seahawks.

Shaun Bruce already had eight assists with Zac Triplett scoring 11 points to lead by as much as 12.

Logan's lead then got out to as much as 14 points in the second frame and they were leading 58-45 by half-time thanks to 18 points from Triplett and Bruce being up to 11 assists to go with eight points.

While Logan could never completely blow North Gold Coast away, they did remain in control still leading 78-64 by three quarter-time with Bruce now having 13 points and 13 rebounds even with Triplett not adding to his 18 points.

It was then another 27 points to 21 in the fourth quarter in favour of Logan as they completed the deal on the 20-point victory to get back on the winner's list.

North Gold Coast have another test now back home on Saturday against the Cairns Marlins while Logan have a double header next weekend away to the South West Metro Pirates on Friday and at home to the Northside Wizards on Saturday.
