The Pioneers Basketball Club will make the biggest move of its 34 year history this April when we relocate to our new home for the 2023 NBL1 South season, the state of the art Wulanda Recreation & Convention Centre.
The NBL1 South home and away season starts on April 1 withboth the OneFortyOne and Castec Rural Pioneers travelling on the road to Sandringham and Nunawading for round one. After the Easter break, the Pioneers will officially open the doors to the Wulanda Recreation Convention Centre and welcome the Casey Cavaliers in a historic event for the Mount Gambier Pioneers.
The Pioneers Basketball Club endeavours to exceed the expectations of our sponsors and fans in season 2023 with a game day crew of community minded ‘go getters’ to assist with facilitating the delivery of the ultimate game night experience!?
We are seeking the following roles to join our game day crew in 2023
GAME DAY CREW
- Game Day Assistant
Coordinate the setup and delivery of a Pioneers Home Games as the club makes the move to Wulanda Recreation and Convention centre, hosting up to 1,600 passionate fans, sponsors and the community.
Play a role in developing the work flow of a Pioneers Home Game setup whilst supporting the club and its board to deliver an elevated home game experience. Provide direction to community groups and volunteers for the setup and pack down of our home venue, as well as coordinate the delivery and of our game night entertainment and presentation of our home games.
- Venue Set Up / Pack Up
Assist the Pioneers Basketball Club and its board with venue setup for our home games throughout season 2023. Including the erection of corporate boxes, bump in and bump out of LED screen panelling, score table set up, club signage, score bench table etc.
- Court wipers
The Pioneers need to best! Be part of the action with the ‘best seats in the house’. The Pioneers Basketball Club are seeking 6 court wipers per home game night to assist with the safety of the basketball court.
- Ticketing
Welcome our community and fans and assist with at the door ticket sales and ticketing information.
- Venue Ushering & Club Information
Assist our fans with game night ushering and club information. You will need to be available on home game nights at Wulanda Recreation & Convention and assist attendees as a point of contact for direction with seating, club contacts and venue and club information.

GAME DAY MEDIA
- Multimedia Operator
Assist the Pioneers Basketball Club with the production of its LED screen presentation. Create professional imagery of both sponsor and club displays. Operate audio-visual LED panels and screens throughout Wulanda Recreation & Convention Center during Pioneers' home game nights.
- Game Night Commentating
Do you have a passion for sport? Or a voice for media and commentating? Be part of the Pioneers commentating team for Pioneers livestreamed home games throughout season 2023. Livestreams are available at www.nbl1.com.au, the NBL1 App, and Game of the Week games also broadcasted on KAYO freebies.
- Photographers
Do you have a passion for sports photography? The Pioneers Basketball Club are seeking photographers to assist with game night imagery for media, club and NBL1 league use. All photography is required to be uploaded to the NBL1 image library on game nights, with credit for all photography provided by media, club and the league.

GAME DAY OFFICIALS
Assist the Pioneers Basketball Club 2023 home games and play an official role in NBL1 South games. The club are seeking the following game officials for the upcoming season:
- Game Night Chair
- Statisticians
- Score Bench
All game day officials will be required to have registered with Basketball Victoria. The Pioneers Basketball Club will provide an opportunity for score bench official training through Basketball Victoria.
