NBL1 North: South West Metro Pirates

Maddi Rocci made her long-awaited return to the NBL1 North this past weekend against the Ipswich Force.

Unsurprisingly, the WNBL star slid straight into the starting lineup and caused damage, scoring 25 points with eight assists and five rebounds to give the Pirates their sixth win of the season.

While Rocci wasn't the story of the game, with a 38-piece from Foot Locker Player of the Week Lulu Twidale, the Pirates are well and truly one of the best teams in the comp and they just got even better!

NBL1 East: Basketball Australia Centre of Excellence

The CoE had a fantastic Round 8, going 2-0 against the competitive Central Coast Crusaders and the talented Maitland Mustangs.

This season has belonged to Isla Juffermans, with the 6’4 tall 18-year-old being a double-double machine and Round 8 was no different. With an average of 15.5 points and 10 rebounds, the star-in-the-making is well on her way to the WNBL and more.

NBL1 South: Geelong United Supercats

Going relatively under the radar this season, the Supercats went 2-0 in Round 5 against some tough competition.

Starting on Saturday, United took down the formidable Mount Gambier Pioneers by 11 points. While on Sunday they took down the Diamond Valley Eagles by only six points on the road.

The biggest change this round was the addition of Polish National Team member Agnieszka Skobel. In two games she averaged 7.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 4.0 steals to set the tone for the new-look Supercats.

NBL1 West: Cockburn Cougars

The Cougars remained undefeated but also managed to end the only other NBL1 West team’s undefeated record.

In the five-point win over the then 8-0 Joondalup Wolves, Stephanie Gorman put on a show with 28 points and 10 rebounds. The Cougars left the stadium as the only undefeated team in Women’s West.

The streak has been held up by their defence, holding the Wolves to only 29 percent from three and 41 percent from inside the arc.

NBL1 Central: North Adelaide Rockets

While Lauren Mansfield was representing Australia in the FIBA 3x3 World Series, Brooke Basham stood up and delivered a near 30-piece triple-double against the Eastern Mavericks.

With 26 points, 10 assists and six rebounds, the WNBL star has evened out the Rockets’ record to 4-4 despite missing a key star.
