Wildcats Power Forward

The Eltham Wildcats are excited to announce the signing of Korinne Campbell for the 2022 NBL1 South season.

Growing up in Princeton New Jersey (USA), Campbell honed her craft from the age of 12 when she had a growth spurt and decided to tryout for AAU basketball then eventually progressing to play for the University of Minnesota and West Virginia in the NCAA.

Campbell will bring a wealth of experience to the Wildcat squad after playing professionally for the last 11 years in Romania, Finland, Czech Republic, Germany, Greece, Spain, Portugal, Cyprus, Sweden and in 2016 with the Knox Raiders where she averaged 21.1ppg & 10.9rpg.

Korinne last played for Hogsbo Basket Goteborg in Sweden averaging 16ppg & 12rpg in 2021/22. Coach Grant Hardy believes his new 6’1 power forward will play a key role for the group this season.

“Securing Korinne is a major coup for the team. I am really excited about what she will bring to our group this season. A dynamic big who can put the ball to the floor like a guard and will bang in the post with the best of the bigs.

“She will allow us to play our style and contribute at both ends of the floor. She will be a great teammate on the floor and no doubt embrace the juniors when they flock to her after the game.”

The Wildcats are fast creating a winning culture which Korinne is excited to be a part of.

“I signed with the Wildcats because I want to win a championship and the Wildcats have a winning mentality after speaking with coach Grant Hardy. I love the city of Melbourne as well I’ve been here before and it’s great to come back.

“I’m looking forward to the competition and playing against all the teams in the league. I’m looking forward to the fans and the opportunity to play.”

Campbell touched down late last week and already has hit the ground running coaching in the Wildcats holiday programs where she will spend plenty of time teaching our Junior Domestic & Championship players throughout the year.

You can see Korinne and the rest of our Wildcat teams in action when the 2022 NBL1 South season tips off this Saturday night (April 23rd) against the Nunawading Spectres at the Nunawading Basketball Centre.

The Eltham Wildcats are in the final stages of building their $19m stadium at Montmorency SC featuring a 1,200 seat show court area; in what will be the jewel in the sporting landscape in north-eastern Melbourne, whilst hosting the Eltham NBL1 home matches and other big events.

Stay tuned for more announcements to come as we build up to the 2022 season tip off this weekend.

The NBL1 represents the highest level achievable for players, coaches, technical officials and game day staff in the Eltham Wildcats pathway. It provides individuals in the north-east of Melbourne with a chance to be exposed to the national leagues. The Eltham Wildcats aim to have teams that strongly represent the north-east of Melbourne and players who’ve come through the Eastern Districts Junior Basketball Association (EDJBA).
