Kilsyth Cobras guard Haylee Andrews says execution out of the pick-and-roll proved decisive as the Cobras improved to 2–0 with a 96–80 win over Ringwood Hawks.

After leading by six at half-time, Kilsyth broke the game open in the third quarter, outscoring Ringwood 32–24 to create the separation that ultimately decided the contest.

Andrews finished with 16 points, 12 rebounds and 8 assists, controlling the game across all areas and falling just short of a triple-double.

“No, they did not,” Andrews said when asked if she was aware of her stat line.
“So shout out coaching staff.”

The Cobras’ advantage came through structure and consistency, particularly in their use of the pick-and-roll, which Andrews said was a clear focus heading into the game.

“Yeah, definitely,” she said.
“We have a lot of depth in our guards and bigs, so playing out of that pick-and-roll is what we work on most at training.”

“For it to be executed tonight, we’re really happy.”

That execution translated across the lineup.

Nikita Young led Kilsyth with 18 points, Emme Shearer added 17, while Andrews’ ability to control tempo and create opportunities ensured the Cobras maintained their edge throughout the second half.

Kilsyth’s depth again proved a factor, with contributions across the roster wearing down Ringwood over four quarters.

Andrews pointed to the club’s junior pathway as a key driver of that depth, highlighting Nikita Young, Hannah Day and Georgia McBean.

“They’ve been very clear that the pathway for their juniors is massive,” she said.

“I think it shows in our first two games, to see the younger ones step up, it’s really special.”

Two games in, Kilsyth are 2–0, with Andrews delivering a near triple-double.
