Warden returns to Wolves for NBL1 West

The Joondalup Wolves have announced the re-signing of Hamish Warden for the 2021 NBL1 West season.

The 6’8” forward has previously played professional basketball in Italy and is currently playing professionally in Switzerland. Warden joined the Wolves at the start of the 2020 West Coast Classic season. Unfortunately, his season got cut short as his start time in Switzerland was changed due to COVID. 

Warden spoke about re-signing with the club in 2021 and joining the NBL1.

“Re-signing with the Wolves was a no brainer for me," he said.

"What stood out to me was as soon as I got there; the professionalism of the place was amazing. Everyone from the club made me feel so welcome and I believe with the squad we are putting together will be a Championship contender which made me want to re-sign even more.

“The plan for me is to finish off the season here and then come back home and join the boys. I feel like playing all year round is a real advantage to get more game experience and to keep developing and I feel like I can learn so much from the guys at the Wolves.

“I’m excited to be joining NBL1 West. The chance to be seen all over the country and the professionalism of the league now is amazing and I can’t wait to be a part of that.”

Joondalup CEO and men’s coach Andrew Summerville spoke about the impact Warden makes.

“I’m really happy Hamish is coming back," Summerville said.

"He joined us at the start of the West Coast Classic season after returning from playing professionally in Italy. Unfortunately, he was only able to play a few games with the Wolves before COVID changed the start time of his professional contract in Switzerland and he had to leave.

"Hamish is a beast who plays hard and can shoot the three. He isn’t short on confidence and we love that about him. He is only 21 and has already played two years of professional basketball overseas, been to college and played SBL, so he has a really bright future.”
