The Willetton Tigers have started announcing their 2021 NBL1 West men’s roster, with important duo Damien Scott and Andrew Black staying with the club.

The Willetton Tigers have started announcing their 2021 NBL1 West men’s roster, with important duo Damien Scott and Andrew Black staying with the club.

Scott has won the club’s MVP award multiple times and is an experienced and highly respected player within the league. The dynamic guard and scorer averaged 19.5 points per game in the 2020 West Coast Classic.

For new Tigers head coach Adam Nener, securing the signature of Scott was one of his top priorities.

“Scotty is arguably one of the best guards in the league, having the backcourt of Blacky and himself re-sign is huge for us,” Nener said via Willetton’s website.

“I don’t think Scotty gets enough credit for the work he does on the defensive end of the court. He can certainly turn a game around really quick and we are glad he has decided to return to the Tigers for next season.”

Scott has played 268 games in the SBL and scored 4,428 points during his career at the top level in Western Australia.

Black is highly respected within the Tigers club for his strong leadership qualities and his proven ability as one of the league’s premier catch and shoot players. He averaged 11.5 points in the 2020 West Coast Classic, connecting on 42.9 percent of his three-point attempts.

“I am happy to be back home with Willetton for 2021 in the inaugural NBL1 West season,” Black said via Willetton’s website.

“The special young talent in this group is phenomenal. I’m excited to be a part of their growth and exposure to the NBL1 experience and I’m looking forward to a special year at Willetton.”
