Round 2
Eltham Wildcats 84 def Diamond Valley Eagles 52
Top Performers: A. Maley 21 points/29 rebounds, S. Britten 16 points, R. Pizzey 11 points/3 blocks,

The Eltham Wildcats continue their hot start to the season after a 32 point blowout win against Diamond Valley on Saturday night at Eltham High School.

The Wildcats immediatley jumped to a 12-4 lead in the opening minutes of the game taking advantage of the younger and less-experienced Eagles outfit. Led by Anneli Maley who scored 12 first quarter points the Wildcats never looked back as they utilised their height dominating the paint and outrebounding Diamond Valley 68-36. The Eagles showed great resolve as they battled undermanned all game long but ultimatley the Wildcats were just too good outscoring the visitors in every quarter to win their second game of the season.

Head Coach Grant Spencer was happy with the win but still believes his group can take their game to another level.

“I’m pleased with the result and moving to 2-0 but I think we turned the ball over too much and were unable to get into any kind of rhythm. We need to get better, our next 3 games are super important to our season."

The Wildcats take on the Nunawading Spectres this Saturday night at Eltham High School with the Women tipping off at 6pm followed by the Men at 8pm. Tickets are on sale now, click here: https://www.trybooking.com/BQXCN
