Round 15 Preview: OneFortyOne Pioneers Close Regular Season on the road against Frankston Blues

The OneFortyOne Pioneers will wrap up their 2026 NBL1 South regular season on Saturday night when they travel to Jubilee Park Stadium to take on the Frankston Blues.

 

Mount Gambier enters the final round with an 11-10 record and remains in the hunt for a finals berth. While their postseason hopes are no longer entirely in their own hands, a victory over Frankston, combined with favourable results elsewhere across the competition, would keep the Pioneers' finals aspirations alive.

 

The Pioneers will be eager to respond following last Friday night's home contest against Keilor Thunder and finish the regular season with a strong performance on the road.

 

OneFortyOne has built its success throughout the season on relentless rebounding and defensive intensity. Kelsey Rees and Lara Edmanson have anchored the frontcourt, while Carla Pitman has continued to make an impact through her scoring, playmaking and defensive pressure.

 

Ti'lan Boler remains one of Mount Gambier's premier offensive weapons, leading the team with her ability to create scoring opportunities both in transition and in the half court. Grace Champion and Abigail Prohaska have also provided valuable scoring throughout the season, while Mackenzie Burke, Tayah Burrows and Eva Langton have each played important roles across the campaign.

 

Frankston enters the final round with a 5-16 record after a difficult season but still possesses several players capable of influencing the contest.

 

Louise Brown has been the Blues' standout performer, averaging 18.0 points and 11.3 rebounds per game. Her ability to control the glass and score both inside and from the perimeter makes her Frankston's primary offensive threat.

 

Megan Mullings has also provided consistent production since joining the Blues, averaging 14.7 points and 7.8 rebounds per game while shooting 43.8 per cent from the field. Emily Monaghan contributes 12.2 points and 4.4 rebounds per contest, while Pahlyss Hokianga is averaging 12.1 points and shooting 36.8 per cent from beyond the arc. Sianni Martin rounds out a balanced offensive group, averaging 10.9 points per game.

 

As a team, Frankston averages 68.7 points per game while shooting 37.4 per cent from the field and 28.8 per cent from three-point range. The Blues have faced offensive challenges throughout the season, but their ability to generate second-chance opportunities means the Pioneers will need to be disciplined on the defensive boards.

 

For Mount Gambier, controlling the rebounding battle, protecting the basketball and pushing the pace in transition will be key to securing an important road victory.

 

With finals hopes still alive, Saturday's clash carries significant importance for the OneFortyOne Pioneers. A win is the first step, with the team then hoping other results fall their way as they look to extend their 2026 season beyond the final round.
