The Pioneers Basketball Club will proudly host its “Say No to Violence” Sports Round this Friday night at Wulanda Recreation & Convention Centre, in partnership with the Limestone Coast Family Violence Action Group, as the club continues its commitment to promoting respect, safety and inclusion within the community.
Taking place during the home fixture against the Northern Force, the round aims to highlight an important message to the Limestone Coast community: everyone deserves to feel safe, respected, and supported — both in sport and in everyday life.
At its core, the initiative reinforces that “Saying No to Violence” is everyone’s responsibility, and meaningful change comes when the whole community stands together in support of respectful relationships and safe environments.
The Pioneers and the Limestone Coast Family Violence Action Group have come together to emphasise the importance of taking a collective stand as a community and reinforcing the message of “Saying NO to Violence.”
Domestic and family violence can affect anyone, regardless of sex, age, race, sexuality, disability, income, gender, or lifestyle. Violence can take many forms, including disrespect, inequality, and control. By raising awareness through sport, the club hopes to encourage open conversations and strengthen community understanding of support services available.
The Limestone Coast Family Violence Action Group will be in attendance on the night, providing information and support resources for community members who may need assistance or guidance.
If you or someone you know is affected by domestic or family violence, support is available through:
-
1800 RESPECT (1800 737 732) – National support service
-
Domestic Violence Crisis Line (24/7): 1800 800 098
-
Limestone Coast Domestic Violence Service (Mon–Fri, 9am–5pm): 08 8303 6640
The Pioneers Basketball Club encourages all attendees to engage with the message of the round, support the initiative, and help continue building a safe, respectful and inclusive community both on and off the court.
