OneFortyOne Pioneers Look to Build on Strong Start in Round 2 Double-Header

The OneFortyOne Pioneers return to the court this weekend following the Easter break, travelling to Victoria for a Round 2 double-header against the Diamond Valley Eagles on Saturday before facing Geelong United on Sunday.
After opening the season with a 2–0 record, the OneFortyOne Pioneers will be looking to build on their strong start and continue their momentum against two contrasting opponents.
The OneFortyOne Pioneers open the weekend on Saturday, April 11 against Diamond Valley, who also enter the round undefeated at 2–0.
The Eagles have been one of the competition’s most productive offensive teams early in the season, averaging 93.5 points per game, with strong efficiency across the floor.
Diamond Valley is led by WNBL star and championship player with the Townsville Fire Abbey Ellis, who has been a standout performer in the early rounds averaging 29.5 points and 10.5 rebounds per game, while Erin Riley and Alex Sharp provide additional scoring support and playmaking.
Diamond Valleys ability to score efficiently and control the boards presents a significant challenge, with the OneFortyOne Pioneers expected to focus on defensive pressure and limiting second-chance opportunities.
The OneFortyOne Pioneers then back up on Sunday, April 12 against Geelong United to complete the Round 2 double-header.
Geelong enter the matchup still searching for their first win at 0–2, but possess a roster capable of competing, led by Lilly Rotunno, Jordan Vasquez and Indiah Bowyer.
Despite their record, Geelong has shown the ability to create scoring opportunities, particularly through rebounding and ball movement, and will be eager to respond on their home floor.
The OneFortyOne Pioneers will be looking to maintain their defensive intensity, with Geelong currently averaging 68 points per game, as they aim to control the tempo and finish the weekend strongly.
The OneFortyOne Pioneers have made a positive start to the 2026 season, with their opening round performances highlighting strong cohesion and balanced contributions across the roster.
With a mix of returning players, new recruits and local talent, the group has shown early signs of consistency at both ends of the floor.
The Round 2 double-header provides another opportunity to build on that foundation, with maintaining performance across both games a key focus.
