The Cairns Marlins improved to 6-0 to start the NBL1 North season while Jarred Bairstow again shone for the Brisbane Capitals and the North Gold Coast Seahawks got on the board.

Jensen Bradtke had 36 points and Preston Le Gassick 21 assists in a massive Gold Coast Rollers NBl1 North win while seven Sunshine Coast Phoenix scored double figures, four from Northside Wizards had 20-plus and North Gold Coast Seahawks got a first win.

FRIDAY
Brisbane Capitals (100) defeated Northside Wizards (88)
Despite the best efforts of Quintin Dove and Tyler Williams, the Brisbane Capitals produced a big final quarter to overcome the Northside Wizards for the 100-88 home victory.
The Capitals were back home at Auchenflower Stadium and had to do it without Kai Woodfall as they hosted a Wizards team having won just one of four games in 2026, but having enough weapons to keep things interesting.
Then even after opening up a double figure lead in the first quarter, the Caps were only leading the Wizards by two points at half-time and one at three quarter-time.
But Brisbane were then table to take over with 30 points to 19 in the last quarter to secure the 12-point victory to improve to a 5-3 record with Northside now 1-4.
There wasn’t a whole lot that separated the teams and the Wizards did plenty right to get to the foul line 29 times and to have just seven turnovers but the Caps did end up shooting the ball better and made up for their 16 turnovers with the 17 offensive rebounds.
Ahead of playing for the Australian Gangurrus at the World Cup next week, Jarred Bairstow continued his outstanding form for Brisbane with another 21 points, 11 rebounds and five assists.
Brendan Teys added 17 points, four assists and three rebounds, Chuatwech Reath 14 points and two assists, Geordan Papacostas 17 points, five rebounds and three assists, and Kai Bloom eight points, three boards and two assists.
The Wizards import duo of Tyler Williams and Quintin Dove did all they could to try and keep their team in the contest.
Williams finished with 26 points, nine rebounds and five assists with Dove delivering 26 points, eight boards and two assists with the pair combining to go 14/16 from the foul line.
Durrell McDonald added 13 points, three rebounds, three steals and two assists for the Wizards, and Jed Richardson 10 points, seven boards, three assists, two steals and two blocks.
Townsville Heat (89) lost to Mackay Meteors (92)
Jerron Jamerson hit two clutch free throws to secure the win for the Mackay Meteors 92-89 against the Townsville Heat despite the 36 points from Richard Peachey.
The Heat were back home at Carmichael Ford Stadium trying to back up their road win over the Northside Wizards while Mackay arrived trying to hit back from losing to the Rockhampton Rockets.
No more than six points would ever separate the two teams the entire game with that margin in favour of Townsville in the first quarter before they were up 24-22 by quarter-time.
That advantage was out to 49-45 by half-time for the Heat but Mackay had 29 points to 22 in the third term to be on top 74-71 by three quarter-time.
It was then just a one-point ball game with 10 seconds to go before Jamerson stepped up to make two at the line for Mackay and then they held on for that three-point win when Ethan Betts prayer at the buzzer wouldn’t fall for Townsville.
The Meteors improve to a 4-3 record with the win with Justin Ochaya top scoring with 19 points, 10 rebounds, three assists and two steals with 7/12 field goal shooting.
Cameron Goldfinch added 17 points, four rebounds, three assists and two blocks, Jerron Jamerson 16 points, four boards and four assists, Jalen Johnson 16 points and eight rebounds, and Kobey Sager eight points, 10 boards and two assists.
Townsville are now 2-4 following the loss at home with Richard Peachey doing all he could with 36 points, 10 rebounds and two assists with 4/8 three-point shooting.
Steven Richardson Jr added 21 points, seven rebounds and four assists for the Heat with Ethan Betts adding 19 points and seven assists, and Declan Condon pulled down 10 rebounds.

SATURDAY
South West Metro Pirates (82) lost to North Gold Coast Seahawks (95)
The North Gold Coast Seahawks scored their first win since coming back to the NBL1 North with the 95-82 victory against the South West Metro Pirates.
The two teams came into the match up at Hibiscus Sports Stadium both hunting a first win of the season and it was South West Metro who got off to a flying start with 33 points to 21 in the first quarter.
Then after that lead got out to 14 early in the second quarter, North Gold Coast fired back by going on a 17-0 scoring run and then went into the half-time break leading 47-41.
And it was in the fourth quarter when the Seahawks pulled away with 28 points to 19 on the way to securing the 13-point victory to win for the first time in 2026 and keep the Pirates winless.
Sean Murphy put up 25 points, five rebounds and two assists in the breakthrough win for the Seahawks on 8/12 shooting from the floor, 3/4 from downtown and 6/7 at the foul line.
Zac Dunmore added 16 points, seven rebounds, six assists and two steals, Charlie Winks 14 points on 4/8 three-point shooting, Cole Ross 10 points and four rebounds, Jasraj Gill nine points, six boards, four steals and two assists, and Isaiah Oste-Pinder nine points and four rebounds.
Oliver Amajoyi finished with 18 points and three rebounds for South West Metro with Dominique Keyes adding 13 points and nine boards, Darryl McDowell-White 10 points, six assists and four rebounds, Louis Jones nine points and four assists, and Jai Blackman nine points and three assists.
Northside Wizards (101) defeated Southern Districts Spartans (92)
Jed Richardson, Durrell McDonald, Tyler Williams and Quintin Dove all scored 20-plus points as the Northside Wizards knocked off the defending champion South Districts Spartans with the 101-92 victory.
The Wizards came into the match up at Northside Indoor Sports Centre having lost to the Brisbane Capitals on Friday night to have won just one of five games so far ahead of hosting the Spartans looking to build momentum into their title defence.
It was a tight battle after the first quarter with Northside narrowly leading 26-25 by quarter-time before the Wizards had another 28 points to 22 in the second period to go into half-time on top 54-47.
Northside kept that momentum going to build a 15-point lead in the third quarter and then held out the late charge from the Spartans for the nine-point victory to improve them to a 2-4 record on the season.
Quintin Dove delivered 24 points, two rebounds, two assists and two steals in the win for the Wizards with Jed Richardson adding 23 points, 10 boards and two assists on 9/13 field goal shooting.
Durrell McDonald also had 22 points, 11 assists, six rebounds and three steals while Tyler Williams added 22 points, five assists, three boards and two steals, and Isaiah Jorgensen six points, two rebounds and two assists.
Southern Districts are now 4-4 as defending champions with Tamuri Wigness putting up 37 points, six rebounds and four assists on 12/20 shooting from the floor and 12/14 from the free-throw line.
Troy Baxter Jr also had 10 points and five rebounds, Max Kerle nine points and two boards, Griffin Biwer eight points, seven rebounds, three blocks and two steals, and Isaih Tueta 16 points, two rebounds and two assists.
Gold Coast Rollers (130) defeated Rockhampton Rockets (94)
The Gold Coast Rollers put up 130 points with 17 three-pointers with 39 assists with Preston Le Gassick having 21 of those with 25 points while Jensen Bradtke scored 36 in the 130-94-win over the Rockhampton Rockets.
Gold Coast were back home at Carrara Indoor Sports Stadium having won their past five matches with Rockhampton arriving in the first half of their double on the road.
The Rollers set the tone with 34 points in the first quarter before piling on another 27 in the second, 34 in the third and 35 in the fourth on the way to the 36-point win to make it six in-a-row to improve to 6-1.
It was a spectacular offensive night from Gold Coast with Jensen Bradtke showing the way with 36 points and 10 rebounds on 14/21 from three-point territory and 5/6 from three-point range.
It was far from a one-man show too and New Zealand Breakers NBL signing Preston Le Gassick dished out 21 assists to go with 25 points, six steals and five rebounds with 5/10 three-point shooting.
James Whitt also had another 23 points, seven rebounds, three assists and two steals, Boston Mazlin 19 points and seven assists with 5/6 three-point shooting, and Brodie McGregor 12 points, eight rebounds and three assists.
Jalen Graham continued his strong form for Rockhampton with another 22 points, 10 rebounds, five assists, two steals and two blocks for Rockhampton on 10/14 shooting.
Isaac Ayoubi also provided 20 points, two rebounds and two assists, Treauhn Williams 18 points and nine boards, Keahn Tuakura 15 points and six rebounds, Junior Madut eight points, six rebounds and five assists.
Cairns Marlins (110) defeated Mackay Meteors (83)
Kody Stattmann and Luca Yates combined for 47 points and 15 rebounds as the Cairns Marlins stayed undefeated this season with the 110-83 win at home to the Mackay Meteors.
The Marlins had won all five of their games so far this season ahead of hosting the Meteors at Trinity Ford Stadium with the visitors arriving trying to improve on their 3-3 record.
Mackay made an encouraging start with an early eight-point lead and still to be on top 23-22 by quarter-time before Cairns worked on top with 26 points to 14 in the second term to go into half-time leading 48-37.
The Marlins went on with the job from there with another 32 points to 20 in the third period and 30 to 26 in the fourth on the way to the 27-point victory that improved them to a perfect 6-0 record.
Kody Stattmann finished with 24 points, five rebounds, three assists and three steals for Cairns with Luca Yates providing 23 points and 10 boards, and Amarco Doyle 19 points, nine rebounds, three assists and two blocks.
There were plenty more contributors too with Kobe McDowell-White finishing with 11 points, 11 assists and five rebounds, Kyle Leslie 11 points and two boards, and Ky Stattmann 10 points, four rebounds and two assists.
Mackay are now 3-4 following the defeat with Jerron Jamerson top scoring with 19 points, nine rebounds, five assists and two steals with 3/4 three-point shooting.
Jalen Johnson added 15 points and seven rebounds, Kobey Sager 12 points and six boards, and Justin Ochaya 10 points, three rebounds and two steals.

SUNDAY
North Gold Coast Seahawks (78) lost to Rockhampton Rockets (104)
Jack Tweedy had an afternoon to remember with 37 points and shooting 8/12 from behind the arc as the Rockhampton Rockets hit back from a tough Saturday night for the win over the North Gold Coast Seahawks.
Both teams played on Saturday night with the Seahawks breaking through for their first win of the season beating the South West Metro Pirates while the Rockets lost big to the on-fire Gold Coast Rollers.
After North Gold Coast were leading by five at quarter-time, Tweedy and Rockhampton took over with him scoring 20 points in the second quarter and his team put up 32 to be on the way to the win.
Tweedy then put up another 11 in the last term and Rockhampton scored 36 more on the way to the 26-point victory to wrap up their road double weekend with a 2-4 record.
It was an afternoon to savour for Jack Tweedy and it started with the 20 points in the second quarter and finished with 11 in the fourth on the way to 37 in the game with six assists on 8/12 three-point shooting.
Jalen Graham produced another 17 points, 10 rebounds, six assists and three blocks for Rockhampton, Junior Madut 15 points and four assists, Brayden Huff 11 points on 3/3 shooting with 5/7 at the foul line, Treauhn Williams nine points and 15 rebounds, and Isaac Ayoubi eight points and five assists.
The Seahawks now end their double-header weekend with a 1-5 record in their return NBL1 North season with Sean Murphy producing 23 points, 14 rebounds, three assists and two steals on 11/18 field goal shooting.
Jasraj Gill added 16 points, three assists, three blocks, two rebounds and two steals, Isaiah Oste-Pinder 10 points and five boards, Zahn Agosta nine points and three rebounds, and Cole Ross eight points, six boards and two assists.
Sunshine Coast Phoenix (123) defeated Ipswich Force (88)
The Sunshine Coast Phoenix illustrated their significant firepower with seven players scoring in double figures as they hammered the Ipswich Force 123-88 to make it back-to-back wins.
The Phoenix were back home at Caloundra Indoor Stadium fresh off beating the Townsville Heat while Ipswich were coming off a win as well against the Brisbane Capitals.
Sunshine Coast started strongly with 30 points to 23 in the first quarter before another 29 to 16 in the second on the way to the 59-39 half-time advantage.
The Phoenix kept that going in the second half with another 30 points to 22 in the third period, and 34 to 27 in the fourth to end up winning by 35 points on the back of putting up 123 points with 58 per cent field goal shooting while going 19/34 from deep and 20/31 at the foul line.
Darnell Robateau top scored with 20 points, six rebounds and 5/9 shooting from three-point territory with Jamaal Robateau going 5/6 for 18 points, three boards, three assists and three steals.
Erik Kafritsas also nailed 4/8 from deep for 18 points, four rebounds, three assists and two steals with DeShawn Ross-Paiwan adding 14 points and six assists, Liam Switzer 13 points, three rebounds and two steals, Earnst Ross 12 points and five assists, and Nelson Kahler 11 points and five rebounds.
Ipswich are now 2-4 after their lone appearance of the weekend with Lachlan Anderson providing 17 points, four rebounds and three assists.
Lamar Patterson also had 13 points, Merrick Small 12 points and 11 rebounds, and Will Mahoney 11 points, six assists, three rebounds and three steals.
