Round 2 of the WNBL is done and dusted and there is plenty of NBL1 action to talk about!
Lauren Mansfield
The standout from Round 2 was Adelaide Lightning's Lauren Mansfield. After a fantastic season with the Gold Coast Rollers, where she averaged 18 points, five rebounds and five assists, she matched that dominance with the Lightning on the weekend.
In a five-point loss against Townsville, Mansfield had a team-high 18 points and five assists, alongside 10 points from NBL1 South champion Marena Whittle.
Coach Natalie Hurst has put a lot of trust into her guards this season, from Isabel Borlase to Mansfield. Who will be next? Will it be NBL1 North All Star Five guard Abby Cubillo?
Mia Murray
NBL1 North Champion and WNBL legend Mia Murray had a game in the barrier raiser against the Lightning on Sunday. Dropping 16 points and four three-pointers, she looked like her Townsville Flames self with the Boomers.
Anneli Maley
Named in the Team of the Week, Eltham Wildcat Anneli Maley looked like last season’s MVP again with 23 points and 14 rebounds in a 20-point win over the Sydney Flames. After returning home to Eltham in the NBL1 and winning a bronze in the World Cup, Maley is set to be one of the best players this season once again for Bendigo.

Wizards duo back in action
The Northside Wizards duo Shyla Heal and the NBL1 North MVP Tiana Mangakahia have suited up again as teammates with the Sydney Flames. Heal had 20 points in the loss, while Mangakahia played her first WNBL since 2013-2014 with the Townsville Fire.

Froling vs Froling re-match
Back in July, NBL1 Show hosts Megan and Pete made a bet on who would win between Keely Froling’s Launceston Tornadoes beat Alicia Froling’s Knox Raiders. The result saw the Tornadoes getting the win and Keely dropping 33 points and 16 rebounds on her twin’s head in the 42-point win.
In Round 2 we saw the Froling re-match, where Alicia (the now NBL1 South MVP) got revenge, scoring eight points to Keely’s 10 but getting the win with the Spirit.
The score is currently 1-1 between the Froling twins for 2022, and their next match-up is around the corner as the Flames host the Spirit in Round 4. A double-header of WNBL & NBL action, that gives every NBL1 fan the perfect Sunday afternoon.
