WOMEN

Southern Tigers (52) def by BA Centre of Excellence (76)

The Basketball Australia Centre of Excellence women continued a rich run of form as they accounted for the reigning NBL1 Central Women’s champions on Sunday at Morphett Vale Basketball Stadium 76 to 52.

With a game-high 18 points, Adelaide native Isobel Borlase made it a successful homecoming with her CoE team.

Dallas Loughridge (16 points) and Nyadiew Puoch (11 points) also reached double figures.

Isla Juffermans, Jessica Petrie, and Summah Hanson did the hard work on the boards, each pulling down 7, as the CoE outworked the Tigers on the glass 47 to 32.

The home team pushed all day, two of five starters playing 30+ minutes and the other three, 23+.

Morgan Yaeger led the with 17 points, while Demi Skinner (13 points) and Mollie McKendrick (14 points) were both solid.

SOUTHERN 52 (Yaeger 17, McKendrick 14, Skinner 13)

BA COE 76 (Borlase 18, Loughridge 16, Pouch 11)

MEN

BA Centre of Excellence (79) def by Forestville Eagles (81)

And then there was one. The Forestville Eagles become the first team to knock off the Basketball Australia Centre of Excellence Men, with a buzzer-beating alley-oop.

It was an electric final 60 seconds for the Eagles - down by four with a minute to go - as the teams traded buckets before the Eagles pulled off a couple of crucial stops and went alley-oop, alley-oop, alley-oop to win it.

The CoE boys had been fantastic all day, the game seesawing and could have easily gone either way.

The Eagles entered the 4th with a two-point lead but quickly found themselves down as the young guns went on a scoring spree.

The cool heads of the Eagles, led by Doyle, Johnson, Purchase and Mays kept it within reach and then produced a magical minute to win it.

DJ had a day out, scoring 39 points in 38 minutes of work, with 9 rebounds and shooting 12 of 12 from the charity stripe. Not to be outdone, Rory Hawke led the CoE with 19 points in 21 minutes as the CoE coaching staff continued to spread the minutes across the group.

BA COE 79 (Hawke 19, Toohey 11, Proctor 10)

FORESTVILLE 81 (Johnson 39, Doyle and Mays 12)
