The Centre of Excellence team continued their tour around the country as part of the NBL1 Wildcard conference and that saw them take on the Chargers at Southern Tasmania Netball Centre on Saturday evening.

The Chargers were coming off their own NBL1 South victory at home to the Casey Cavaliers on Friday night while the Centre of Excellence Men's team has so far beaten Townsville Heat, Mackay Meteors and North Adelaide Rockets in 2022 and lost to Forestville Eagles.

It was the CofE team that started well on Saturday night against the Chargers to lead 20-17 by quarter-time and they still clung to a 35-33 edge at the half-time break.

The Centre of Excellence team were then able to extend their lead out to double-figures during the third quarter on the back of going on an 8-0 run and to score 27 points to 18.

That set up the eventual 85-74 victory for the Basketball Australia side of young guns.

Tyrese Proctor is one of the nation's brightest young products and he showed why on Saturday night with 16 points, three rebounds, three assists and three steals.

Iaroslav Niagu added 13 points and nine rebounds, Alex Kovatchev 13 points and four boards, Ethan Elliott nine points and three assists, Alex Condon eight points and three rebounds, Jensen Bradtke seven points and four boards, and Ben Henshall five points and three rebounds.
