As the 2026 NBL1 South season continues, clubs across the league are once again coming together to recognise and support Mental Health Round, a powerful initiative focused on raising awareness and encouraging meaningful conversations around mental wellbeing within our basketball community.

This round carries an important message, highlighting the reality that one in five Australians experience a mental health condition each year. It serves as a reminder of the role sport and community can play in creating safe, supportive environments, and the importance of organisations like headspace in providing vital support to young people across the country.

Throughout the round, players will take to the court wearing green headspace socks, while officials will wear green headspace lanyards, in a visible show of support and solidarity. In addition, select players will wear '1/5' singlets, representing the one in five statistic and reinforcing the importance of ongoing awareness and conversation.

Across venues, clubs will also be engaging their communities, encouraging people to check in with teammates, friends and family, and to continue breaking down the stigma surrounding mental health.

Mental Health Round reinforces that basketball is more than just the game. It is a platform to connect, support and look out for one another. Whether it is a simple conversation, a message or a moment of support, every action can make a difference.

For anyone seeking support, services including Lifeline (13 11 14) and Beyond Blue (1300 22 4636) are available 24/7.
