NBL1 North: Rockhampton Rockets
The Rockhampton Rockets finally got their first win in Round 8 and it was against the Finals contending Darwin Salties.
In a 10-point win over the sixth-on-the-ladder Salties, the Rockets finally got over the hump in a meaningful game.
The story of the team has to be Malcolm Bernard. The former NBL player moved from the NBL1 South Casey Cavaliers midseason, to now play for the Rockets – where he put up 26 points, 14 rebounds and three assists.
NBL1 East: Maitland Mustangs
The Maitland Mustangs had a phenomenal weekend with a 2-0 record and a buzzer-beater to bump them up to 10th on the ladder.
On Saturday, Maitland beat the Albury-Wodonga Bandits by 11 points at home. On Sunday they escaped with a win against the Hornsby Ku-Ring-Gai Spiders after a game-winning fade-away from William Cranston-Lown.

NBL1 South: Eltham Wildcats
The Eltham Wildcats have taken the top spot from the Frankston Blues after beating the Ringwood Hawks by five points in overtime on Saturday.
Callum Dalton had a major performance with 27 points and 11 rebounds while the human highlight reel, Josh Sykes, had 22 points and eight rebounds with some thunderous dunks.

The Wildcats are soaring with the addition of two-time NBL Champion Angus Glover and rising star Owen Foxwell, giving them a great shot at the NBL1 South title.
NBL1 West: Geraldton Buccaneers
The undermanned Geraldton Buccaneers knocked off the Rockingham Flames in the one-point win, for a revenge-filled battle after the NBL1 West Grand Final last year.
Missing NBL champion Zac Gattorna, Liam Hunt stepped up for the Buccaneers scoring 26 points with 13 rebounds to close out the win. Geraldton held the Flames to only 28 percent from outside the arc, while keeping Devondrick Walker at only 20 points in 40 minutes.
