The Eltham Wildcats are excited to announce the re-signing of American import Hailey Leidel for the 2023 NBL1 South season.
In her first year with the Wildcats, Leidel led the team in scoring averaging 22ppg while grabbing 7 rebounds and dishing out 3 assists per game.
The Brownstown, Michigan (USA) shooting guard was a key addition to the team last year and Head Coach Matt Bongetti was eager to re-sign her for the 2023 season.
"Looking forward to having Hailey back as a Wildcat in 2023. She is an elite scorer, who has added to her game during the off season. Her team first personality is the perfect fit for our group."
The 25-year-old is currently playing in Cyprus-Division A where she is having an outstanding season for Asbis Ael Limassol averaging 27.7ppg on 45.5% from behind the three-point line. Leidel is excited to return to Australia and looking forward to a successful season.
“I couldn’t be more excited to be coming back to Eltham this season. I loved my time spent playing for the team last season, I am so grateful for the opportunity to come back. I believe we have a lot to accomplish and I’m ready to be a part of it!”
The NBL1 South season tips off on April 1st at Diamond Valley. You can watch Hailey and the rest of the Wildcats in action this season with an Eltham Wildcats NBL1 Membership. Visit https://elthamwildcats.nbl1.com.au/pages/nbl1-memberships for more information.
The NBL1 represents the highest level achievable for players, coaches, technical officials and game day staff in the Eltham Wildcats pathway. It provides individuals in the north-east of Melbourne with a chance to be exposed to the national leagues. The Eltham Wildcats aim to have teams that strongly represent the north-east of Melbourne and players who’ve come through the Eastern Districts Junior Basketball Association (EDJBA).
