The Joondalup Wolves have announced the re-signing of Amy Kidner for the 2021 NBL1 West season.
The 6’1” forward has been a part of the Wolves for 10 years. In between her long-term Wolves commitment, she attended college in North Colorado, USA. After graduating college Kidner came back to the Wolves to further her Preeminent Development League career.
In the 2019 SBL season, Kidner averaged 11 points per game at an impressive 49 percent from the field. Unfortunately, a knee injury put Kidner's basketball career on hold for 18 months but she is now ready to return.
“I have been involved with the club for most of my life. From watching my Dad coach the men's SBL team to playing domestic for Greenwood Giants and WABL for the Wolves. I am now coming into my 10th year in the women's program - so even though I am only 26 I feel part of the furniture here," Kidner said.
“I am really excited for the upcoming season. We have a great group of girls and a dedicated coaching staff. More than anything I can’t wait to step back onto the court after what will be almost two years since I tore my ACL.”
Joondalup women’s coach Charles Nix shared his thoughts on Kidner re-signing for the NBL1 West season.
“To see the work that Amy has done over the last 18 months in her rehabilitation has been inspiring to me and our group," Nix said.
"She made every session last season and did her work on the sidelines while still being involved with the group and impacting with her energy and intellect. Amy has been a captain of our club and a real heart and soul leader for us, really setting a standard both in games and at training.
"We’ll ease Amy back into the team but expect that she’ll be a very important piece for us as we strive to compete for another championship.
“She’s so hard to guard and has really worked on a more consistent perimeter shot which we have started to see translate into results recently.
"I expect that she will be a more complete player with the work she has done and even more driven than she was previously. I love working with Amy and look forward to her being back on court with the girls.”
Kidner will be joining Kayla Steindl, Nes’eya Williams, Izzy Miotti, Georgia Denehey, Chelsea Belcher and Amber Land on the Wolves women’s roster in 2021.
