Frankston Blues (FDBA) are thrilled to announce the signing of Igor Hadziomerovic for the next two seasons in the NBL1 South. Igor has been an integral part of the team for the past five seasons and will continue to lead the Blues from the front in 2024 and 2025.
Since joining the club, Igor's presence has played a significant role in the team's consistent success, with the Blues making the top four every season during his tenure. His on-court talents have been showcased throughout the 2023 season, where he averaged an impressive 15.4 points per game, including a 38% three-point shooting percentage. Additionally, he contributed 5.9 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game, displaying his versatility and impact.
Assistant Coach Adam Jackson, responsible for player recruitment, spoke highly of Igor's contributions both on and off the court. He emphasized, "Iggy has been a cornerstone of our men's program for the past five seasons. We needed a shift in culture and Iggy has been integral in that. Not only does he possess exceptional on-court talents, but his attitude and professionalism off the court have made him an invaluable asset to our team."
Apon re-signing Igor spoke about his time with the club "The five years since I've been here has been something special. Back in 2018 when I met with Hamsey (Andrew Harms) and Jacko (Adam Jackson), I knew there was something brewing. And then obviously the admin and people that have helped build this club up, is something very special. So (re-signing) was a no-brainer for me really"
Hadziomerovic also spoke about his favourite moment with the club, coming Runners Up at the NBL1 National Championships in 2022. "You know, we were so close and we had an up and down season. But I think that just made us hungry for this season and hopefully we can build off that and achieve the ultimate goal."
Igor will re-join the ranks of returning contracted players Daniel Trist, Lachlan Barker, Lucas Barker, and Brad Newley, solidifying the core of the team. The Frankston Blues are excited to have a cohesive roster for the upcoming seasons, aiming to build upon their previous success.
