The Hobart Chargers have appointed Tre Armstrong as head coach of their men’s team and Jack Fleming as head coach of their women’s team ahead of the upcoming NBL1 South season.
Armstrong takes on the men’s role following his experience as a player and senior coach in Tasmania.
Fleming brings experience with the Tasmania JackJumpers and currently holds assistant coaching roles with the Tasmanian Jewels and Australian Gems.
Both coaches will also lead Tasmanian state teams in 2027, maintaining a connection between the state’s development pathway and the Chargers’ senior programs.
The club said the recruitment process attracted applicants from across Australia and internationally.
Young welcomed the coaching and board appointments.
“Securing high-calibre leaders like Tre Armstrong and Jack Fleming positions both our Men’s and Women’s teams for success,” Young said.
Young also acknowledged the contributions of last season’s coaching staff.
“We also sincerely thank Jarod Weeks, Mark and Jorrick Chivers and all of our coaches from last season for their commitment and contribution to the club,” he said.
“Their work has helped build on our proud history of success, and we look forward to building on those foundations as we take the next step together.”
The Chargers said further announcements regarding player signings and pre-season preparations will follow in the coming weeks.
