“Footy player on the court” Garrett delivers as Trist controls inside

Daniel Trist delivered inside as the Frankston Blues defeated the Casey Cavaliers 101–90.

Trist finished with 20 points and 11 rebounds, controlling the paint, while Tom Garrett added 17 points and 9 boards, stepping up in key moments.

While Frankston’s depth proved decisive, the connection between Trist and Garrett remains a constant.

Both have been part of the Blues’ senior program since 2018, with Garrett a product of the Frankston pathway, and their familiarity continues to show.

“I’ve seen Tommy doing that since he was like 18 years old,” Trist said.

“He just has a nose for the ball. He’s pretty much a footy player on the court and he can shoot it. He’s a massive part of what we do.”

Garrett’s impact showed up in the moments that matter, on the glass, around the basket, and in the flow of the game, while Trist controlled the interior against a physical Casey frontcourt.

“I match up better against genuine bigs… it’s what I’m used to playing against overseas,” Trist said.

Frankston’s depth told across four quarters, with contributions throughout the lineup maintaining control of the contest.

“We’ve got one of the best benches in the league, so we don’t lose anything when those guys come on,” Trist said.

“I think they showed that tonight… our bench was phenomenal and that’s going to carry us through the year.”
