Eagles captain stays in the nest for 2027

Forestville captain Ella Sawyer has pledged her allegiance to the Eagles for the 2027 NBL1 Central season, with the team announcing she had re-signed on Friday night.

For the 25-year-old, Sawyer was a quiet performer in a team headlined by three-point sharpshooters Samantha and Jessica Simons, trailing only the former in assists per game with 4.9.

Working alongside her teammates, Sawyer averaged 9.8 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 1.5 steals per contest in 2026.

Sawyer spent five seasons in the US college system playing for Indiana State University before returning to South Australia to suit up for the 2024 NBL1 season.

Since then, Sawyer has garnered a reputation as a consistent contributor, getting regular minutes throughout the 2024 and 2025 seasons, leading to Forestville's top-three finishes in both years.
