Diamond Valley Eagles and Eltham Wildcats will go head-to-head on Saturday 28 March at Diamond Valley Sports & Fitness Centre, with the O’Connor-Cukier Cup on the line in a blockbuster Round 1 showdown. The women tip off at 6:00pm before the men follow at 8:00pm, with both results combining to decide which club takes home the Cup.

Awarded on aggregate score across the women’s and men’s games, the O’Connor-Cukier Cup represents more than just bragging rights. Named in honour of Diamond Valley life member Margaret O’Connor (left) and Eltham life member Cathy Cukier (right), the trophy celebrates two families whose impact on basketball in Melbourne’s northern suburbs has spanned generations.

Diamond Valley enters 2026 as the current holder after reclaiming the Cup in 2025, finishing with a combined score of 204-197 across the two games. Now, the Eagles will be looking to defend their title, while Eltham will be eager to strike back and start the season with a statement win.
