The Mount Gambier Pioneers have added experience and versatility to their men’s roster, announcing the signing of Ngor Manyang on a one-year contract for the 2026 NBL1 South season.

Manyang joins the Castec Rural Pioneers following his most recent stint with the Diamond Valley Eagles in NBL1 South, where he continued to show his value as a reliable and efficient contributor.

A 201cm forward, Manyang has built a strong résumé across Australian basketball, with experience spanning SEABL and NBL1 competitions. Known for his athleticism and defensive presence, he has consistently impacted games through his ability to score efficiently and contribute on the glass.

In the 2025 NBL1 South season, Manyang averaged 13.1 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 1.6 assists per game, while shooting an efficient 41.5% from the field and 36.4% from three-point range across 18 appearances.

He also showed his scoring capability in 2024, averaging 21.4 points per game in a shortened stint, highlighting his ability to step up offensively when required. Manyang also played Basketball Africa League (BAL) overseas and further developed his basketball game.

Men’s Head Coach Pete Godfrey said Manyang’s experience and versatility will add important depth to the group.

“Landing Ngor at the Pioneers for the 2026 season just ahead of tip-off is big for us. When we were compelled to make a couple of unexpected changes to the original roster we had to shift quickly back into 'recruiting' mode. Ngor being available and possessing the complementary skill set we were looking for was a double bonus. Not to mention his legitimate and recent NBL1 South experience. He knows the League.”

“Having coached against Ngor a few times over the years and being on the wrong end of some of his big games, I'm looking forward to sharing Pioneers colours with him in 26.” he added.

Manyang said he is looking forward to the opportunity to join the Pioneers for the 2026 season.

“I am delighted to be a part of the pioneers. I’ve heard great things about this organisation & I look forward to being a part of something so much bigger than myself. This club has had great success in the league and many great players have come through this program. I’m grateful that I can be a small part of it”

The signing continues to strengthen the Castec Rural Pioneers roster, as the club builds a balanced group heading into the 2026 campaign.

With Round 1 fast approaching, the Pioneers are finalising preparations ahead of the new season, set to tip off at the Wulanda Recreation and Convention Centre.
