Castec Rural Pioneers Continue Pathway with Signing of Local Junior Albert Peters

The Mount Gambier Pioneers are proud to continue their commitment to local talent, with Basketball Mount Gambier junior Albert Peters signing with the Castec Rural Pioneers for the 2026 NBL1 South season.
A product of the local basketball pathway, Peters has progressed through the Basketball Mount Gambier system, earning his opportunity at the NBL1 level through consistent development, dedication, and strong performances at the junior and representative levels.
His signing highlights the strength of the Mount Gambier pathway, reinforcing the club’s focus on providing opportunities for local athletes to develop and transition into senior competition.
Peters brings energy, enthusiasm, and a strong understanding of the game, with his work ethic and willingness to learn making him an exciting addition to the Castec Rural Pioneers program as he takes the next step in his basketball journey.
Men’s Head Coach Pete Godfrey spoke on the importance of rewarding local development and Peters’ progression into the program.
“Albert has been training with the NBL1 Men right through pre-season while balancing his junior and SA Under 18 State commitments.”
“Due to his commitment and on-court performance, and with an eye to the Pioneers of the future, it makes perfect sense to formally embrace Albert as part of the 2026 group. I am looking forward to playing a part in Albert's development.” he added.
Peters said he is grateful for the opportunity to represent his hometown club at the NBL1 level.
“I’m an incredibly grateful for this opportunity to be apart of the Mount Gambier Pioneers for the 2026 season. Representing my home town has always been a dream of mine, and I’m ready to keep learning and competing at the next level under Pete and Damien.”
“I would like to thank everyone that has helped me along the way, for believing in me and pushing me to improve each day- I wouldn’t be here without all their support.” he added.
With the 2026 NBL1 South season now underway, the Castec Rural Pioneers continue to build momentum, with Peters joining the group as part of a balanced roster of experienced players and emerging local talent representing Mount Gambier.
