The Brisbane Capitals have confirmed the return of Caddie O’Brien as Head Coach of the NBL1 Women’s program for the 2026 season, bringing continuity, experience and strong leadership into an exciting year ahead.
O’Brien, a respected figure within the Brisbane basketball community, returns to the role with a clear focus on building from the foundations established last season. Her connection to the group, combined with her knowledge of the local landscape, positions the Capitals well as they prepare for a competitive 2026 campaign.
“I’m really excited for the season ahead,” O’Brien said.
“My main focus during the offseason was retaining as many players as possible from last year’s group. I believe we built some really strong foundations, and we’ve already hit the ground running in 2026.
“We’ve also added some valuable experience along with some exciting junior prospects, so I’m really looking forward to a successful season.”
The Capitals have prioritised consistency heading into the new season, retaining a strong core while adding depth through experienced talent and emerging juniors. The approach reflects a commitment to both immediate performance and long-term development within the program.
With preparations already underway, the Capitals Women’s side will look to build momentum early and establish themselves as a strong contender in the NBL1 North competition.
The club is encouraging its community to get behind O’Brien and the team as they gear up for what promises to be a big 2026 season.
