Brisbane Capitals NBL1 Coaching Announcement

Brisbane Capitals welcome Andrea Gjinaj and Michael Van Dongen as NBL1 Head Coaches.
The Brisbane Capitals have locked in their NBL1 Head Coaches ahead of the NBL1 North inaurgual season. 
Michael Van Dongen will be leading the NBL1 Brisbane Capitals Women's team. Michael is back after winning QSL Coach of the Year in 2020 and leading the Brisbane Capitals to a quarter-finals appearance.
He has spent majority of his 30-year coaching career at Brisbane Capitals, coaching Men’s and Women’s senior and junior programs recently including the 2020 QSL Women, 2019 SBL Men (Runners-Up), 2019 U18 Boys Gold (Runners-Up) and 2015 SBL Women Champions.
Michael has been coaching state league competitions since 2007 and has been involved with the Brisbane Bullets during his career. Michael is looking forward to the inaugural 2021 NBL1 North season with his promising collection of players.
Brisbane Capitals have welcomed Andrea Gjinaj as the NBL1 North Men's head coach for 2021. 
Originally from Albania, Andrea played professionally in Europe for 10 years at a range of clubs including, Scavolini Pesaro, one of the most storied teams in Italy. Andrea followed in the footsteps of his father and played on the Albanian National Team from 1998 to 2013. 
Since moving to Brisbane, Andrea has been coaching with basketball programs at St James College and St Joseph’s College Gregory Terrace, as well as working alongside, NBL veteran Bruce Palmer during the 2020 QSL Season.
With more than 25 years in basketball Andrea is ready to lead the NBL1 Brisbane Capitals for the inaugural 2021 season.
Round One against the Northside Wizards Basketball tips off Saturday 15th of May at Auchenflower Stadium.
