Youth League Women's

A really important game for the Youth League Women’s team with only three games remaining and a finals spot there.

A reasonably scrappy game against Hume meant the team would have to grind out on both ends of the floor to get the win.

Some great pressure on the defensive end during the second half allowed us to play our brand of basketball which is to sprint the floor and play offense against an unsettled defense.

Scores were quite close at the half, but great cohesion on the offensive end saw the margin push out after the 3rd qtr and a final margin of 14 points.

Jemma Amoore was great in collapsing the defensive, Maddie Ammavatu likewise, and Milly Shortall provided great defensive pressure, solid rebounding and slotting into the five spot due to us being in foul trouble.

Two rounds to go and finals are still within reach.

Ballarat 68 - 54 Hume

Jemma Amoore 22 points and 4 steals, Madison Ammavatu 12 points, 8 rebounds and 3 steals, Milly Shortal 6 points, 10 rebounds and 3 steals

Youth League Men

It was our longest road trip of the year for the Youth Men as they travelled to take on Frankston Saturday night in what was a really competitive hit out.

Having all our bigs unavailable due to illness, family and other commitments meant the men played extremely undersized relying on everyone to play out of position. This worked in our favour as it allowed our boys to play with more pace and be more switchable defensively.

Dyami Hayes had a massive 34 points including 28 in the first half leading the group in scoring however, it was the Miners team defence and competitiveness in the second half that got the boys through to become victors 82-77.

Ballarat 82 - Frankston 76

Dyami Hayes: 34pts, 8rebs, 6/14 3pt
Jackson Talbot: 19pts, 10rebs, 5stl
Will Hynes: 16pts, 6rebs, 4ast
