NBL1 West: Mandurah Magic

The Mandurah Magic did something on Friday night that no other team has achieved this season – defeat the Cockburn Cougars.

Mandurah pulled off the stunning 82-50 upset of the league leaders thanks to 29 points and 17 rebounds from Hannah Hank. The Magic sit 5th on the table with an 11-6 record, while the Cougars remain on top at 14-1.

NBL1 East: Basketball Australia’s Centre of Excellence

The COE got back on track this past weekend with two massive victories – a 103-77 triumph over Sydney and a 96-37 demolition of the Hills Hornets.

The wins snapped a 4-game losing streak for the group of youngsters, who now sit 5th on the ladder.

NBL1 South: Dandenong Rangers  

The Dandenong Rangers remain firmly in the finals mix after two vital wins over teams inside the top eight this past weekend.

They defeated the 4th placed Frankston on Saturday 78-72, before a dramatic game winner from young Opals star Nyadiew Puoch saw them take down Ringwood on Sunday.

NBL1 North: Sunshine Coast Phoenix

In what has been a trying season for the Sunshine Coast Phoenix, there was a ray of sunshine in Round 13.

The Phoenix recorded wins two and three of the season after they upset the 5th placed South West Metro Pirates 87-71 on Saturday, before taking care of business against the last placed Red City 81-73 on Sunday.

NBL1 Central: Norwood Flames

The Norwood Flames made a statement this past weekend, defeating the second placed Southern Tigers, 77-72.

It was a contest defined by wild momentum swings. Southern led 28-13 after the first period, before Norwood returned serve with a 21-8 second quarter.

The Tigers led by four heading into the final term before a barnstorming Flames squad won the last quarter 25-16 to sit pretty in third spot at the end of Round 12.
