The Joondalup Wolves have re-signed Perth Lynx rising star Nes’eya Williams for the 2021 NBL1 West season.
The 6’1” forward started her SBL career in 2017 and joined the Joondalup Wolves in 2019 and 2020. Williams started her professional career by signing with the Perth Lynx in 2019 and 2020. In 2020 she won the Naidoc Perth Sportsperson of the Year award and helped the Wolves women’s team win the West Coast Classic Championship.
“Coming back to the Wolves this year was a no brainer,” Williams said.
“The culture, professionalism and atmosphere are amazing. To play for Nixy (coach Charles Nix) again along with the assistant coaches, support staff and an amazing bunch of girls who were all so welcoming of me when I first arrived made the decision easy.
“I am really looking forward to playing in the NBL1 West, even more so that I’ll be playing for the Wolfpack. It’s really exciting to be a part of a national competition that will give players exposure they may not have got otherwise.”
Nix is looking forward to having Williams back on the court this year.
“Nes’eya is an up-and-coming star at national level and we couldn’t be happier with how she has embraced our culture at the Wolves,” Nix said.
“Being as young as she is, we can only expect her to keep improving as a professional and am looking forward to seeing her take some tremendous strides this year. Nes’eya is a top-level player in our league and we are ecstatic that she has decided to stay in the pack.”
Nes’eya joins Kayla Steindl on the Wolves women’s roster for 2021.
