The WNBL has released its fixture for the 2020 season, with 60 games of world-class women’s basketball to be played inside six-weeks from November 11 to December 20.

Games will be played in three venues – McDonald’s Mackay Multi-Sports Stadium, Cairns Pop-Up Arena and Townsville Stadium – as the entire season is contested in a Queensland hub.

The season will tip-off with a double-header on Wednesday November 11 when the Adelaide Lightning face the Canberra Capitals, followed by the Perth Lynx playing the Townsville Fire.

The regular season will finish on Sunday December 13, with the Semi-Finals to be played on Wednesday December 16, the Preliminary Final to be played on Friday December 18 and the Grand Final to be played on Sunday December 20.

Every WNBL team has multiple NBL1 players on their roster, so there will be plenty of opportunities for NBL1 fans to watch their favourite players after the 2020 NBL1 season was cancelled due to COVID-19.

“Today marks an important milestone for the 2020 Chemist Warehouse WNBL season with the release of the fixture, which will see 60 games played over 39 days out of a North Queensland hub,” Basketball Australia Head of Women in Basketball Lauren Jackson AO said.

“It’s a challenging fixture that will test the depth of each team’s roster as they rotate through Mackay, Townsville and Cairns.

“This festival of basketball will provide fans throughout North Queensland and further afield with the opportunity to see some of the best basketballers in the world including former, current and future Olympians.

“As a league, we all can’t wait to converge on North Queensland to contest the 41st season of the WNBL, which will definitely be like no other before.”
