Mackenzie Clinch Hoycard knocked down eight triples and scored 30 points to fire the Warwick Senators to the 94-79 win at home on Anzac Day in the NBL1 West against the Joondalup Wolves.
It was the first Battle of Joondalup for 2026 at Warwick Stadium on Saturday, both teams came into the clash in winning form with Warwick bouncing back from a first loss to beat the Perth Redbacks with the Wolves scoring their first victory against the previously unbeaten East Perth Eagles.
That set the stage for a tantalising match up between the northern suburbs rivals but it was the hot shooting from the Senators all night that was the difference with Clinch Hoycard showing the way on the back of her WNBL season at the Geelong Venom.
Warwick landed six threes as a team in the first quarter, two more in the second, five in the third and another five in the fourth to end up going 18/37 for the game opposed to just 6/21 from the Wolves on the way to the 15-point victory.

Warwick have now scored two strong wins over the Perth Redbacks and Wolves since their lone loss of 2026 to the East Perth Eagles with them going 18/37 from three-point territory at 49 per cent while having 27 assists as a team on 33 field goals made and 10 free throws.
It was a night out for Mackenzie Clinch Hoycard to win the Anzac Medal as she continues her career at the Senators on the back of a WNBL season at the Geelong Venom.
She put up 30 points with seven rebounds, two assists and two steals on the back of knocking down 8/11 from three-point territory.
Chloe Forster added another 18 points, nine rebounds, six assists and two steals, Jayda Clark 16 points, seven boards and seven assists, and Kyana Weir 16 points, four assists, three rebounds and two steals.
The Wolfpack might now be 1-4 after the loss but they continue to show enough signs that when everything clicks with the talent they have, they are going to be quite a threat the longer the season goes.
But in the end having 17 turnovers and shooting just 6/21 from three-point range wasn’t a winning formula despite Asianae Johnson finishing with another 25 points, six rebounds and three assists on 11/15 field goal shooting.
Kim Pierre-Louis also had 24 points, six rebounds and two assists, and Awatea Leach 11 points, six assists and three boards, but it's Perth Lynx WNBL import big Yemiyah Morris they need more from who just had seven points and four rebounds on four shot attempts in 24 minutes.

The Battle of Joondalup got underway at Warwick Stadium with both teams in winning form and after the Wolves got up by seven early, the Senators got on a rolling by scoring 14 straight points.
That saw them leading 29-21 by quarter-time while knocking down 6/10 from three-point territory to just the 0/3 from the Wolves who also had seven turnovers in the opening 10 minutes.
That lead got out to 10 for Warwick to start the second quarter but Joondalup worked back into the contest on the back of 16 points to the half from Asianae Johnson which cut the Senators advantage to 46-39 by the break.
They were still shooting 8/21 to 1/8 from behind the arc while also getting up an extra five shot attempts with Mackenzie Clinch Hoycard showing the way with 12 points.
Johnson didn’t add to her scoring tally in the third quarter for the Wolves and despite 11 points from Kim Pierre-Louis, Warwick pulled away further thanks tot 25 points to 15 to be up by 17 at three quarter-time.
That lead got out to 23 in the final term as well for the Senators before the secured the 15-point win to go to 4-1 on the season.
The Senators now have a double-header next weekend away to the East Perth Eagles on Friday and at home to the Rockingham Flames on Saturday with the Wolfpack at home to the Lakeside Lightning on Friday and away to the South West Slammers on Saturday.
