In the space of less than 24 hours the Perry Lakes Hawks have announced themselves as a genuine NBL1 West threat with some big time help for Cam Huefner from Jack Browder and Isaiah Moses as they beat the Goldfields Giants 93-72 on Sunday.
Only eight days earlier and the Hawks were struggling to start the NBL1 West without either import arriving, with Perth Wildcats NBL point guard Jaron Rillie still not right to play, and his 'Cats teammate Huefner holding down the fort.
He shot Perry Lakes to a first win of the season over Lakeside last Saturday and then this week he was joined by new import pair Browder and Moses.
That pair were inspired in helped the Hawks to the 100-98 win over the East Perth Eagles on Saturday night including Browder hitting the game winner ahead of them hosting the Giants back at Bendat Basketball Centre on Sunday.
The Giants were coming off their own stirring win over the Perth Redbacks the night before in their first road game of 2026.

That set the stage for the Sunday match up but the Hawks got on top early with Browder and Moses catching fire, and then despite only leading by six at half-time, Perry Lakes took charge from there for the 21-point win to make it three straight and improve suddenly to 3-3.
On the back of his 42 points in a match-winning effort last week against Lakeside to get Perry Lakes on the board in 2026, Cam Huefner enjoyed another big performance on his NBL1 home court which doubles as his training venue for the Perth Wildcats.
He enjoyed his time out on Bendat once more delivering 30 points, 13 rebounds and two assists including hitting 11/12 at the free-throw line.
Then the two new imports for Perry Lakes backed up their heroics from the night before with two more standout performances with Jack Browder delivering 22 points and five rebounds while Isaiah Moses had 24 points, three assists and two boards with 7/8 three-point shooting.
Andreas Grubisa also had eight points, two rebounds and two assists for the Hawks, and Darcy Knox two points, seven boards and five assists.
The Giants return home to Kalgoorlie having split their first road double of the season with Danny Pippen finishing with 27 points and eight rebounds including going 8/8 at the foul line.
Sam Vinson added 23 points, six steals, five rebounds, two assists and two blocks with Lino Manhom producing a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds while Michael Jok contributed seven points and two boards.
Coming off the momentum of their stunning and buzzer-beating win over East Perth the previous night, Perry Lakes shook off a slow start with the Giants leading by seven points early on Sunday to take over leading into quarter-time.
The Hawks went on a 10-0 scoring run and by the end of the first period were leading 28-17 with new import pair Isaiah Moses and Jack Browder combining for 19 of those 28 points with 7/10 three-point shooting.
The Hawks as a result were shooting 61 per cent to 28 from the field, and 6/11 to 1/5 from three-point range before then going on with the momentum in the second term to lead the Giants by as much as 22 points.
Goldfields, though, dug deep to go on their own run of scoring 11 consecutive points before half-time and with their own import pair Sam Vinson and Danny Pippen combining for 32 first half points, they had cut the Perry Lakes lead back to 50-44 heading to the locker room.
The Hawks got on top once more in the third term outscoring Goldfields 21 points to 12 and limiting the visitors to scoring just 3/17 and 0/7 from downtown for the frame.
That had Perry Lakes up by 15 at three quarter-time with that lead growing to 21 in the last term before they settled on the win by that margin to complete the double win weekend to offer a glimpse into what they are going to be capable of the rest of 2026.
The Giants now return home the next two weeks to host the Willetton Tigers and then the Perth Redbacks while Perry Lakes will be back at Bendat Basketball Centre against the Redbacks this Saturday.
