The Joondalup Wolves have re-signed Jordan Wellsteed for the 2021 NBL1 West season.
The 6’4” guard has played in the SBL since 2014, with majority of his SBL career at the Wolves. In the 2019 SBL season, Wellsteed averaged a field goal percentage of over 40 percent.
After originally signing to play for the Wolves in the 2020 SBL, after COVID Wellsteed took some time off in to focus on work and study.
“I’m excited and thankful for the opportunity to once again play for the Wolves after taking a break in 2020," he said.
"After playing for the Wolves almost my entire basketball life it certainly feels like home being back. I’m equally as excited for the new format that NBL1 brings. Can’t wait to get to work and see if we can not only bring home a State Championship but a National one too.”
Joondalup CEO and men’s coach Andrew Summerville had this to say about Wellsteed re-signing.
“I’m really happy that Jordy is back on board for NBL1," Summerville said.
"Jordy had signed with us in 2020 but once COVID hit he decided to take some time away from the game and focus on his study and work.
"Now that things are back to normal, he has decided to come back to the pack and finish what we started in 2020. It’s been a while since Jordan has worn green, so I look forward to him giving us some depth in the new NBL1 competition.
"He is really long and athletic and in our off-season scrimmages over the last few weeks has shown that he hasn’t lost a thing from his time away from the game. I first met Jordy 10 years ago, so I am glad I get to coach him.”
Jordan will be joining Lochlan Cummings, Seb Salinas, Reece Maxwell, Joel Vaiangina and Hamish Warden on the Wolves 2021 men’s roster.
