Washout Result for Buccaneers vs Giants Fixture

Following the abandonment of Saturday night's NBL1 West Men's fixture between the Geraldton Buccaneers and Goldfields Giants due to high humidity which resulted in unsafe court conditions, the NBL1 West Commission has determined the game will be declared a washout.

The match was abandoned at half-time after conditions deteriorated to a point where continuing play was no longer considered safe. As always, the safety and wellbeing of players, coaches, officials, volunteers and spectators remain the League's highest priority.

Under the NBL1 West Rules of Operation, fixtures abandoned prior to three-quarter time are referred to the NBL1 West Commission for review. Following consideration of the available options, including the feasibility of replaying the fixture within the remaining competition schedule, the Commission determined that a replay or rescheduling of the match was not practical.

"Safety within our league will always come first, and once the game was abandoned our focus shifted to identifying the fairest and most practical outcome for all parties," said NBL1 West League Manager Brighton Pass.

"Given the logistical challenges associated with two regionally based teams and the limited opportunities available within the current schedule, the Commission determined that declaring the match a washout was the most appropriate outcome."

The fixture will be recorded as a "No Game", with neither team receiving a win or loss. Final ladder positions will be determined by win percentage in accordance with the NBL1 West Rules of Operation.
