The Northern Star Resources Goldfields Giants inaugural Women's squad has received another bolster in talent with the signing of experienced US import Danielle McCray.

McCray has been playing professionally across the US and Europe since graduating from University of Mississippi "Ole Miss" in 2015, playing professionally the last seven years in Sweden, Lithuania and the last four years in Germany.
After her most recent German stint, she headed back to the US for a quick season in the Athletes Unlimited Pro League as a preperation for her upcoming time in Australia.

She does have an Australian basketball connection as she had been signed to play in Australia in 2020 for the Rockingham Flames in the SBL, but the season was cancelled before a game was even played due to Covid-19.

At 185cm (6’1”), the forward is a dominant scorer, rebounder and defender, and will be one of the key focal points for the Giants.

McCray spoke of her upcoming Australian season with the Kalgoorlie Miner newspaper.

"I'm excited to meet the team, get to know everyone and build our chemistry as a team as we prepare for the season" McCray said. "I play with a lot of hustle and impact. I like to run fast, grab rebounds and dip into my moves. I love cheering for my teammates when I'm on the court of on the bench, so I'll be doing a lot of that. I expect organised, quality basketball. I've heard nothing but good things about the NBL1 West, so I can't wait to get started".

McCray is due to arrive in Kalgoorlie-Boulder late next week and will have two weeks to get settle in before the NBL1 West season commences on April 9th.
