Trio of Redbacks commit for 2021

The slew of Perth Redbacks signings for the 2021 NBL1 West season continue with three new announcements.

Tevin Jackson has re-signed with the club on the men’s team while young duo Shenae Hartree and Sarah Allen will be returning to the women’s team.

Jackson played a key role for the club in the 2020 West Coast Classic, averaging 12.5 points, 6.2 rebounds and 2.2 steals per game, and he can’t wait to return.

“It was pretty much a no-brainer given who we have coming back next year – I certainly wouldn’t want to go up against us given the firepower we have,” Jackson said via perthredbacks.asn.au.

“Last season was a little bit difficult as it was our first time playing together and we were understanding how we all play. It’s going to be a lot different in 2021 and I’m really excited about it.”

Women’s head coach Craig Allen is looking forward to Hartree playing an increased role in the inaugural NBL1 West season.

“Shenae stepped into the rotation during the West Coast Classic having never played senior basketball before,” Allen said via perthredbacks.asn.au.  

“Coming out of under-18s, she didn’t look out of place at all. She very much possesses the skill set to be highly capable at this level and I’m sure her dreams go way beyond just playing state league basketball.

“She has untapped potential and hopefully we can help facilitate the realisation of that potential for her and bring her unique skillset to the fore in coming years.”

Allen can’t wait to step up for the Redbacks in 2021, with the switch to NBL1 exciting the young guard.

“I feel like it provides that little bit more pressure because there’ll be more people watching, and it will be good to have that added exposure but it’s going to still have that good feeling of being the SBL. It’s going to be exciting to see what happens with it all,” Allen said via perthredbacks.asn.au.
