Returning for her 14th season with the club, Kim Hodge has re-signed for the 2024 NBL1 season.

The captain and leading scorer on the 20-2 Manly Warringah Sea Eagles had an outstanding season, averaging 16.2 points, 7.6 rebounds and shooting 47 percent from the field for the Grand Finalists.

In the Grand Final against the Norths Bears, she scored 21 points in a close match for the title before the Bears clawed out the win.

She is the first signing for the women’s team for 2024 but joins Mason Bragg and Matt Eldridge for the club's player signings for next season.

Club MVP Lewis Holey has resigned for 2024. After averaging 10.8 points and 13.8 rebounds (conference-high), Holey was one of the stars of the competition for the Finals team.

The Bears asked Holey what his outlook was on next season, he responded "Unfinished Business."

After four seasons at Washington University, Emma Nankervis will return home to play for the Sandringham Sabres in 2024. She played 88 games and started in seven for the Cougars during her collegiate career.

Nankervis is currently a development player with the Southside Flyers.

The former NBL1 Central MVP Sam Simons is back for another season with the Melbourne Tigers.

She averaged 17 points, 4.1 rebounds and 2.8 assists for the Tigers last season.

Assistant turned head coach Kaleb Sclater said that he is excited to bring back Simons for another season.

“I’m pumped that Sammy is returning for next season,” he told the Tigers

“She was great for us, on and off the court. Sammy showed she is an elite level scorer, but I think what she proved last year is she has a high basketball IQ and that’s something I’ll lean on this year.

“She has great leadership qualities. Sammy constantly helped the younger players, led by example and was a positive player in the group and I can’t wait to see her continue to do this next season.”

Central Banner

NBL1 Central star Taylah Levy has made the move from the Eastern Mavericks to the Central Districts Lions.

Last season she averaged 18 points, 5.7 rebounds and 4.9 assists for the Mavericks.

In the AFLW, the 22-year-old averaged 11 disposals and three kicks a game for the Adelaide Crows this past season.

Head coach Joe Noone said he is thrilled to add another elite player to the roster,

“We are stoked as a club and as a team to get a person and player of Taylah’s quality to the club,” he said via the team’s page

“Taylah brings to the Lions, some great guard skills and first rate shooting. We hope the Lions fans are getting ready to come in loud to the Den and support the women’s team to drive them forward.”

Former Mount Gambier Pioneer Jordan Rawls has signed with the Eastern Mavericks for the 2024 NBL1 season.

The 25-year-old Pennsylavanian averaged 12 points, 4.8 rebounds and 1.3 assists for the Grand Finalists in the 2022 season, with a season-high of 24 points against Casey.
