The OneFortyOne Pioneers are pleased to announce that Tayah Burrows will return to Mount Gambier for the 2027 NBL1 South season, re-signing with the club for a second season.
After finally making her long-awaited Pioneers debut in 2026, Burrows will continue her journey in OneFortyOne colours as the club begins building its roster for the 2027 season.
In 2026, Burrows featured in 10 games for the OneFortyOne Pioneers, averaging 4.7 points, 4.1 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game. She also recorded 1.1 steals per game, while shooting 32.7% from the field and 75.0% from the free-throw line.
Burrows provided valuable contributions across the floor throughout her first season in Pioneers colours, using her versatility to create opportunities for teammates, compete defensively and contribute on the glass.
Her 2026 season also marked an important milestone in her basketball journey, returning to the court with the Pioneers after a 14-month rehabilitation period following a broken leg and ruptured syndesmosis injury suffered while playing for Keilor Thunder in the 2025 NBL1 season.
After making her way through the lengthy rehabilitation process, Burrows was finally able to return to competitive basketball in 2026, making her long-awaited debut for the Pioneers and once again doing what she loves on the court.
OneFortyOne Pioneers Head Coach Matt Sutton said he was pleased to have Burrows return for the 2027 season.
“We’re really happy to have Tayah return. In a short time, she has become a really loved member of our basketball community here in Mount Gambier.”
“Tayah has a high work rate and is always pushing to get better. She sets a great standard for others within our program and is a great role model for young athletes in our region.” he added.
Burrows said she was excited to return to the Pioneers and have the opportunity to enjoy a full season with the group.
“I’m super excited to re-sign with the Pioneers and really looking forward to getting a full season with the group. After everything I’ve been through with injury, there’s a real sense of joy every time I’m able to step on the court, and that feeling is something I’ll never take for granted.”
“Mount Gambier has become a second home for me, and I’m so grateful for the way this community and club has embraced me.”
Burrows also expressed her enjoyment and the relationship she have with the community.
“I’ve really enjoyed my role with Basketball Mount Gambier and the connections I’ve been able to build with the younger kids in the community over the last few months. Seeing the happiness and excitement they get from playing basketball is so rewarding, and being able to help them and hopefully inspire them through my own journey is something I really value.”
“I can’t wait to see everyone back at Wulanda in 2027!”
With Burrows confirmed for 2027, the OneFortyOne Pioneers will continue preparations for the upcoming NBL1 South season, with further roster announcements to come.
