The Warwick Senators have wasted no time building strong rosters for the 2021 NBL1 West season, with a slew of announcements over the past week.
Cody Ellis, Corban Wroe, Justin King, Jay Thwaites and Ash Litterick have been announced as men’s team signings, while Mackenzie Clinch Hoycard, Tayla Hepburn, Jayda Clark, Nicole Jorre de St Jorre and Chloe Forster are joining the women’s team.
Ellis and Wroe both have NBL experience and are key pieces to the Senators line-up. The 30-year-old Ellis has played for the Sydney Kings (2013-2015) and the Illawarra Hawks (2015-2018), while he has been a Senator since 2014.
Wroe was a development player with the Perth Wildcats from 2015-2017, where he won two NBL championships (2016, 2017). The 2021 NBL1 West season will be his second straight with Warwick after he played six games with the team in the 2020 West Coast Classic (WCC).
King returns to the Senators after a big 2020 WCC season where he averaged 21.4 points, 6.9 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 1.9 steals per game.
On the women’s side, Clinch Hoycard is coming off a WNBL campaign with the Perth Lynx where she appeared in five games. She played for Warwick in the 2020 WCC, averaging 12.1 points and 6.7 rebounds per game.
Hepburn returns to the Senators as one of the squad’s most versatile players as she amassed 14.8 points, 7.7 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 1.9 blocks and 1.1 steals per game in 2020.
Clark, Jorre and Forster return to Warwick as key members of the team’s rotation.
